They don't throttle, they shape.

You should email support and they'll look at your account - [email protected]
It's a lot faster to e-mail them then to post on here.

We do not throttle, we shape based on how busy the network is at any given time.

Kindly email [email protected] so that the guys can investigate

Yes, the network is quite busy today, thus heavier protocols will be shaped more agressively today.

Things should quieten down between around 19:00 tp 20:00 this evening

It would appear my news server downloads are slightly slower as well. Sitting at between 30 and 60kbps on a 2mb Gold.

Have been full speed all day!
Hehehehe (^_^)

TO ALL THOSE TRYING TO WATCH TWITCH.TV

I've been experimenting with the different twitch video servers, and I got a hold of a twtich server ping program, and apparently from the IS network, the "best" server to watch videos from twitch are from the Netherlands server (not the UK as one would expect).

Just tried it now and I'm getting much better throughput.

To try a different video server, just point your browser to a different one. For example when trying to watch the ESL:

To use the Global Server, hosted on the US West Coast use: http://twitch.tv/esltv_sc2
To use the UK server, use http://en.twitch.tv/esltv_sc2
To use the Netherlands server, use http://nl.twitch.tv/esltv_sc2
To use the German server, use http://de.twitch.tv/esltv_sc2

@MrBEEP and the rest of you

I'm thinking of moving to Openweb, I can either go for "Secret special" std uncapped for 299 or the gamers bling for R396, so will it be worth the extra R100?

My needs are not to game during the day. From what I understand, all other protocols are shaped during the day in any case. Will there be a difference after hours between the accounts?

MrBeep - just wanted to note a latency issue once again this evening in the +1000ms range at 8PM. Switched to MWEB and it was fine. Back on Openweb now and it is on the same sort of latency that MWEB was (400-600ms).

I am more forgiving this evening because I am aware of a lot of my guildmates suffering latency issues tonight (reports from guildmates using MWEB, Telkom and iBurst) and also seeing 90% of people connected to our TS server go down (hosted by IS).

Will monitor it tomorrow night :) Just to let you know, it was perfect this weekend.

So I'm hunting for a new ISP after giving Mweb notice (abuse what what). Openweb have given me a Standard uncapped test account and thus far it has performed better than my Mweb account. Looking forward to seeing how it develops over the test period. My one concern was youtube performance. With no other activity on the account youtube downgraded the video to the lowest quality and even that stuttered and buffered. Perhaps just an issue last night.

Thank you for the update
