Dear MrBeep

I need some info from you. I had a look at your packages and to be honest, there's just too many of them and it gets rather overwhelming choosing one. So instead of me trying to play compare, I'll just tell you what I need and you can redirect me from there since I want to get rid of Mweb ASAP.

My requirements are as follows:

* I need the best surfing speed possible during business hours on a 1meg line.
* Torrent/P2P should be fairly open between 12PM and 7AM.
* No throttling whatsoever.
* +- 100GB per month on 1meg line (usually lower usage but I'm working on worst case scenario here)
* Prioritized gaming outside of business hours.
* Best package for Youtube streaming.

Obviously due to my low budget, price is king here.

Also, what is the difference between the gaming account and the gold account? Would the gaming one that's currently on special suit my needs for the above mentioned requirements?

And finally, how do I go about getting a test account to check performance?

Thanks.

MrBeep, are there any general faults or issues in the Stellenbosch area? My flatmate reports that since 5PM there's been no internet there, but I'm away until Sunday so I'm not there to troubleshoot.

Platinum Business uncapped. We have the 4Mbit at our office, it's a pleasure.

1mb gold account is your best bet. Email MrBeep and im sure he'll give you a trial account

My line and wallet only supports 1meg and it's for home use.

They have 1Mbit Platinum too. With your listed requirements that would be your best option imo.

EDIT: Think I misunderstood, but I think you mean Torrents/P2P should be fairly open between 12AM and 7AM (12PM is midday). Thought you needed torrents during the day. Than I would suggest Gold 1Mbit as juBa mentioned above.

Hi Zewp,

There are no general issues on our side.

Can you please ask him to call Telkom so that they can have a look

Hi MrBeep
Why do my http download's start good , but only for few seconds ?
then drop from 105K to 44kbs ?
and my ping is between 300-400 ms average

I'm on the 1Mbps Gamers King (Downloaders Bling!)

MrBeep,

Please check your mail. My internet is down, and I have indicated I have very slow speeds.

Edit: I sent it to support. No response as yet. Currently using Cybersmart.

Also from Stellenbosch my internet was down from 4pm-8pm and now both my Openweb and Afrihost accounts are slow as hell.

MrBeep, I submitted a reply to my ticket yesterday morning at 6.30am, heard nothing back, gave an update yesterday afternoon and still no reply.
As per below quote.
I restarted my router earlier today.
Just to show there's no congestion:

I grabbed FTP files off a server hosted on the WA network and it averaged somewhere between 30 and 50KB/s. For local that's pretty horrible. Took me almost an hour to download 120MB.

RDP was dead yet again (it works flawless on a prepaid account).... and no, I don't download with it. I compile and execute server-side code on it.

I'm grabbing Youtube video now, and it's coming down at 80KB/s, so it's buffering like a 384 line.
NNTP was actually stuck at 25KB/s for the last while. That's absolutely ******* ridiculous. Especially considering what I pay for the account, and what I used to get on my standard account even.

I threw a bunch of protocols into the mix and it's not even reaching 130KB/s.

.....
And here comes 5pm:

I would very much appreciate some response to the amount of shaping experienced on this account.
This month has thusfar been a pretty horrible month and cost me a fair bit in terms of prepaid account topups.

This is today:
RDP is completely dead, so I have to [again] top up my prepaid account so I can log into the work server.
Local is pretty slow to say the least.

MrBEEP you legend you!

I have a question;

I was wondering if, via my CP, I am able to see like a graph of my traffic I'm doing - sorta like Cacti or can one ask for it?

I obviously am not interested in how much data I'm pushing, more like, what my line is doing, when it is busy or not.
