Beware, each time they **** up your account and give you a new username, they try charge you for the previous one. Customer care is an oxymoron when it comes to OW.

My account is perfect now. Seems a username change always fixes it probably because the previous pool of usernames was throttled to ****

Hmmm... my username change has sorted out the office hours throttle-of-death, except downloads max out at around 55KBs.

Right now, new firefox beta coming in at 53KBs. No matter where it is downloaded from, either 33.6KB/s to 55KB/s max downloads.

Support has been very, very helpful and patient with all my questions etc, but when querying this "speedcap" I am told;

This network places more emphasis on download shaping than realtime services.

It fluctuates depending on various factors.

Would you like to move back to the IS network?

I have reset the modem and router to defaults, connected directly to modem via cable, tried from different PC, nothing helps.

Test accounts all download full-speed.

So... where to now ?
Another account ?
A move back to IS ?
New equipment ?

Why can this account not just work ?

I dont know what to say.
Before name change I was not able to browse internationally, well it was dead slow.
I tried torrents and surprised they worked.

Now my downloads when running max out at around 800-900k
Browsing is sorted

All Isps have a shaping device or devices.

This is the hardware that slows down downloads during peak times.

Mweb has a very good shaping device :)

Running between 80 - 100K usually, but that's fine as that was basically my MAX just a few days ago (when I was on 1Mbit)
Sometimes it bursts up to 200K+ during the day (usually in the mornings before 11)

Edit: I'm talking about pure usenet throughput here - obviously If I youtube or download http it maxes out at 222k. always.

I was just curious about normal day to day usage during business. No point in having an account which you can't even open hotmail or upload your work.

Openweb, I have tried emailing you, phoning you but you dont even have a support team on duty over the weekend. 04 January 2013 i tried opening an account with you, your website lagged and constantly went into error page, i had not received any confirmation of the account. I then emailed you stating this account needed to be cancelled (in the event it had been processed) the account had not even been active for more than 12 hrs and you state i need a months notice. I then went to one of your competitors, which of whom i was able to sign up instantly, make payment on their website without a fuss and i was prorated. but with you - you charged the full month! My account needs to be cancelled immediately, I have noted that a payment has been deducted off my credit card, I am going to put a stop to this transaction, as I have been fighting with your "Cancellation" team the whole dam week to cancel this account. Your ridiculous "tickets" support system doesnt even work!!!!!!!!!!! How the hell are you a "credited" ISP when your website doesnt even work properly!!!!! I will further take you to the CPA - i will send you a PM and this account had better be sorted out along with the reversal of the payment other wise I will take further action.
