After initially having an issue with my account (which was resolved in 2days), I am an extremely happy client with Openweb gold. Very impressed!

...and after reading over countless posts on these fora, I settled on OpenWeb.

Settled? Settled? Settled?!

"Settle" is going to the prom with your sister...
What you did was like taking the prom queen home for some sexy time.

You didn't settle at all mate, you knew what you were doing :D

Glad to say that my latency has improved lately, even though its small. Used to be around 200-210 towards EU servers.
These days its hangin around 190ish. Whatever OW is doing, keep it up! :) Perhaps just my luck? :p

Also having 170 - 190ms latency lately to EU servers on Counterstrike:GO, still bearable. And I'm extremely happy with them

Hey MrBeep,

This is the second weekend in a row that when the network is unshaped that my download speeds have gone terrible. Speeds are only fine between 1am-8am after that I only get 20kb/s download speed. I did ask Telkom to reset my port and I switched off my router for 30mins but the problem persists.

Please post a trace to Google.co.za during the slow period. This could be congestion on your exchange

Hey MrBeep, out of interest, what ADSL router do you use at your remote testing stations?

My router seems to be on its last legs, and I've never had the same international speeds as national speeds on it; but when I tested at a friends house with his router I managed full speed national and international.

Quite confusing if Im honest. (Currently using a Dlink DSL 2500U, connected to the Douglasdale 462 exchange)

Hi Fox1,

Yes, please post a tracert to google so that we can see what is happening.

Tracing route to www.google.co.za [74.125.233.63]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms 1 ms <1 ms MyDslModem.local.lan [192.168.1.1]
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 * * * Request timed out.
4 * * * Request timed out.
5 * * * Request timed out.
6 * * * Request timed out.
7 * * * Request timed out.
8 * * * Request timed out.
9 39 ms 34 ms 31 ms jnb01s01-in-f31.1e100.net [74.125.233.63]

Trace complete.

I also suspect it's congestion because I get full speeds during office hours.

Hi Agent,

We use a selection of routers. Tenda, DLink and Netgear.

We do sell routers as well at a cost of R499 including delivery.

Tenda 150Mbps - 4 port wireless router.

This product should be up on our website soon, but if you wish to order in the meantime, you can email admin@openweb.co.za

Hi MrBeep!

i Signed up last night an hour before the Gold special came out. I see that I have to pay FULL R589 for 27-31. I would like to upgrade to the 4mbs gold at 50% off. I thought I get free pro rata for Jan? Just to clear this up, should I sign up now or on the 1st?

Hi iAmSilverCat,

You will not be billed the full amount of R589. The Gold Promotional special launched with free pro rata access, thus I doubt you will be charged anything for January 2013.

YAYAYAYAYAYAYA

So I can just add the promo as a new package to my account? If so I'm doing this ASAP.
