Cheaper is'nt always better, OpenWeb has been brilliant so far :)

Indeed :) I guess with their new prices and removing of their speed throttling we will see a lot more feedback on the quality of TI's uncapped.

@MrBEEP - any plans to compete with Telkoms new pricing? Their 4mb uncapped is cheaper than the Vanilla accounts now...

And how does the performance compare? I'd much rather pay a bit more for a 1mb account and deal with Openweb's lenient usage policy than pay cheap for a 4mb account and be throttled into the ground after barely starting to use it. :p

To MrBEEP and OpenWeb, I just want to say that your service is awesome.
When I signed up for ADSL I kept my line at telkom because I thought I'd have to jump around a few times to find a good ISP... it's rare to find the best on the first try.

My only problem is i'm feeling guilty - maybe it's because I was used to 3G and their caps, but I feel like i'm doing something wrong when I line up these downloads and it just goes...
So far OpenWeb is allowing my to do whatever I want, but I feel like this is just too good to be true...

Do you REALLY not monitor our total usage, and do you REALLY not care if we line up a lot of downloads?

I guess I just don't want to be kicked off your servers, I want to remain with OpenWeb forever!
Please calm me down and tell me everything is going to be okay :crying:

Hi Keeper

Thank you for the kind words.

No we do not monitor your usage, and we do not throttle.

We do however shape based on how busy the network is at any given time. If the network is quiet, have fun!

Hi tigerminx,

Your ADSL line or router is losing sync to the exchange.

Because an uncapped account only allows for 1 concurrent connection (and Telkom does not immediately drop your session from the account when it disconnects) it will be more noticeable on an uncapped service.

Please contact Telkom on 10210 and log a fault.

Thanks for the reply MrBeep, but as mentioned I switched to another IS account and the problem does not appear to happen. DSL Modem does not lose sync, as I can change accounts immediately. Thanks anyways.

Hi tigerminx,

If you believe the fault is not as described, kindly email support@openweb.co.za so that we can investigate further.

I'm afraid it is VERY difficult troubleshooting an account based on a MyADSL nickname.

Can anyone here provide information on how a silver uncapped package performs during the day with regards to P2P/NNTP ?

No arguments here - but I don't know how it compares so will have to wait and see after Feb 1 comes to see what people start moaning about :)

Haven't check in in a while.

4MB Gold Uncapped.

Running better than ever.

420kbps during office hours via usenet, IS server
90kpbs during office hours via usenet, overseas server.

After hours, full speed ahead on all servers.

All hours, Youtubing like a man possessed.

So, ja, all is pure bliss.

Keep up the good service MrBeep

Hi All

Very first post on MyBB. Been looking to sort out ADSL for some time now as my 8ta 3G has been killing me and after reading over countless posts on these fora, I settled on OpenWeb. Just signed up for the Gamers King package (hopefully to prevent my gf's endless vleisbooking from interfering with my online gaming!). Looking forward to it and hoping for the best.

See ya'll on the interweb.

I am currently on that package, I download AND play online at the same time and my ping remains 40 - 50ms if not less. Very awesome package
