Hi Keeper,

This is not normal.

Please email mrbeep@openweb.co.za with your ADSL username so that I can take a look for you

Hey everyone

I've been on OpenWeb since friday and the experience has been great the past weekend... My Newsgroup downloads have been flying for the past three days.
Was very impressed... until today :(

Today it's literally between 4 and 10 kb/s. :wtf:
I've tested YouTube and a few other sites, and everything runs fine, except for Newsgroups

Did I just start my OpenWeb experience with this "Unshaping schedule for the weekend" thing, and now that the "unshaped weekend" has passed, I sit with what OpenWeb really is like?

I'm on the OpenWeb Gold account.
My question is, are our downloads throttled as bad as this during the daytime, every day?

Thanks for the Help MrBEEP!
After you reset my port, my speeds are back to awesome again :)

No idea what a port-reset really means, or why I needed it, but what the heck... It worked.

Whew - almost got a heart attack this morning!
I thought if OpenWeb Gold is gonna run at this speed during the week, how bad is it gonna be with other ISPs, and WTF do I do now?! lolz.. :p

Glad it was just a glitch - now I can sleep tonight.

I'm shopping for a new ISP and this post is another +1 for OpenWeb

Why not ask MrBeep for a trial account, so you can see how fast they are for yourself? :whistling:

I signed up for Telkom's X-mas deal, so I get 5GBs from them every month. I haven't even asked for my username/password yet, and I don't think I ever will - that account is gonna remain unused forever hehe...

Hello

I would suggest the 1Mbps Vanilla Uncapped account for R179. It will be over compensating for what you need, and should work great for your suggested usage profile.

Thanks MrBEEP! Thanks for the trial account as well.

Ended up taking a 1MB Gold uncapped. Activated already and all is looking very good.

Tell me about it lol, I have the 20GB account you get with all 4meg and up lines as a backup and for the past few months it's had 0% usage :D Openweb FTW

Mr Beep,

Try to swing into a quick game of BF3 while battling the scorcher outside...

I'm on the 4M Gamers Delight package.

Doesn't even want to connect to EA.

"Connection to EA Online timed out. Your network bandwidth and/or network latency may not meet the requirements for Battlefield 3."

This is a first...

Now, I please make it go away.

Thanks Mr. Beep,

I did that as well, was just posting here to see if the problem was more widespread.

I also got Telkom to reset my port, it worked a charm.

Thanks

Posting here out of frustration - I cancelled my Vanilla uncapped two days ago so I could grab one of the Silver uncapped accounts on promotion. I received an automated response to my cancellation notice - but have yet to receive any confirmation or reply whatsoever.

Hi Seeyou,

The system automatically processes these.

Please email support@openweb.co.za with your details so that we can see what went wrong.

Sorry about that!

Not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this, but for the last week, during the day, my PPPoE connection is constantly disconnecting, comes back stays up for for a few minutes them drops, and battles to reconnect. No problems in the evening it seems. I put my details for my 20GIG IS account that I received when I purchased COD Black Ops II, and it works like a dream. Any ideas what the issue could be?

No worries, got a confirmation email soon after posting here, better late than never! I'll cross my fingers it was the Vanilla account that was cancelled, not the Silver, as the status isn't shown on the control panel ;)

Hi tigerminx,

Your ADSL line or router is losing sync to the exchange.

Because an uncapped account only allows for 1 concurrent connection (and Telkom does not immediately drop your session from the account when it disconnects) it will be more noticeable on an uncapped service.

Please contact Telkom on 10210 and log a fault.

@MrBEEP - any plans to compete with Telkoms new pricing? Their 4mb uncapped is cheaper than the Vanilla accounts now...

Hi blunt,

Naturally. We won't compete, we will lead.

I got a 48 hour trial of the Gamers King and its a great offer. Too much latency for my usage but for a downloader / gamer, its perfect.
