I have the gaming/downloaders account, and during the day downloads are dead slow which I can understand due to the nature of the account. Should it still go 30kB/s on a 4mb package?

Hey Friends,

There is a small fault that will cause around 10% of clients to experience difficulties. This is a Telkom fault. Engineers from Telkom are attending.

I am part of the 10% any news on the fault/reason for issue?

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the main difference between Gamer's Delight and Gamer's King is that Gamer's King is better optimized for downloads. I don't know, but that's what I take from the description.

Hi NeoNarchy,

The fault was resolved at 19:00.

If your problem persists, please email support@openweb.co.za so that we can investigate

My issue actually started last night opened a ticket, seems better this morning but off to work now so will only really see when I get back tonight. I couldn't even open speedtest but on a different isp it worked.

I also strongly suspect my router may be at the core of my problems. Don't have a spare to test my theory with, though. Might as well just go buy a new one.

Anyone have any recommendations for a router that kicks out a really strong wi-fi signal? 3/4 of our devices in the house are on wi-fi.

I'm currently using this router and I get signal outside my home, in the yard http://www.mitabyte.co.za/pOM W150D/Tenda-Wireless--N-150Mbps-ADSL-2--Router.aspx

If you are looking to future proof then this other one should be sufficient http://www.mitabyte.co.za/pOM W300D/TENDA-300Mbps-Wireless-N-ADSL-2-Router.aspx

I am still confused at the difference between Gamers Delight and Gamers King

Gamers King
hey decided to create a special package that offers priority to Gaming traffic during office hours and Downloads After Hours at a fraction of the cost! (You see, they don’t like spending their hard earned Bling!

Gaming traffic will be prioritised on our Platinum Uncapped level 24 / 7. Downloads will be prioritized on our Gold Uncapped level After Hours. Other traffic will be on our Standard service level.
This package contradicts itself (highlighted in red)

So is the difference that Gamers Delight is gaming prioritized 24/7 and not on a platinum level and downloads not on gold?

Had a bit of a hiccup this afternoon.
Couple of emails later (and a little help from MrBEEP) and all is well again!

Let the OpenWeb awesomeness continue! :)

I don't think it does. It's just stating that even during office hours it's on top of the list and any other time of the Day or Weekday.

Hey Friends,

I have asked the network nerds to start work on the unshaping schedule for the weekend early today. We should be announcing the schedule this afternoon still :)

Hi MrBEEP,

Please recommend a package ...

I have a Telkom 512k WiMAX connection. Please confirm that your packages are compatible with WiMAX ... should be, have used MWEB, WebAfrica and FNB COnnect in past without problems. The signup form requires an ADSL line number ... mine starts with a "W" followed by digits.

Package will be used for downloading only, mostly off the IS news server, but for some torrents as well. Which 1Mb package would give me full line speed (512k) all hours. I'm leaning towards your Silver special right now, or should I get Gold (again keeping in mind that my line speed is only 512k).

I run a pfSense router with dual WAN, so all other traffic is on a CellC Whoosh connection.
