Definitely an issue in Cape Town for the last few nights. If I look at my download logs, some files finish at an average speed of 950k/sec (normal), while others coming in at 800, 850, 730, etc. All from the same source, which was consistent full line speed before.

There also seems to be a very noticeable slowdown of all traffic (browsing, ftp, ssh, streaming) sometime around 4pm every day. (until 5pm, when shaping is lifted) Even when the line isn't doing anything, everything crawls. When I mail support, they tell me the account looks fine, and when I use an Afrihost capped account, all is normal.
 
From Cape Town as well and have had nothing but nearly full speed since upgrading to Gold (2MB) on Friday. In fact I am thoroughly impressed.

I did not expect it but browsing is noticeably quicker than with MWeb. VPN connections are MUCH better.

Guess the issue is limited to some exchanges only (I'm in Table View).

This morning we received almost 48 different notices of exchanges being down, or going down today.

If you experience a problem today, we would suggest you contact Telkom on 10210 first, as it will be more than likely be them.

just remember as well plenty exchanges are upgrading and stuff so could also cause issues. my DSL been off for 2days for upgrades but up again.... Cape Town area seems to be place where most exchanges being done at moment.

i check there for notices to see if exchanges are doing repairs or work etc...

If you experience a problem today, we would suggest you contact Telkom on 10210 first, as it will be more than likely be them.

Would it be to much admin to post the list of exchanges going down?

I think it would alleviate quite a lot of "no connectivity" feedback from the masses.
 
We are working on a script that will pick these up and compile an auto list

I have such a love/hate relationship with you when you do this. I'm on the Silver uncapped 10mbps promotional package, and I'd love to pay you R200/month more for the Gold for better daytime speeds, but because of the calendar month termination period, and there being no systems in place to upgrade to promotional accounts, I would end up paying for this month and next month on Silver, and pro-rata this month and next month on Gold, while not using the Silver account at all.

I want to give you more money, and save money, but ironically, it works out too expensive!

Really? I remember going through the same ordeal when I wanted to go from Standard to Silver promotional - although that might have been because the Silver promotional ended up being cheaper?

Regardless, that's fantastic news, thank you! You have a loyal customer with the great service/support and all of these special offers.

That might explain why our phone was dead, but our DSL was working on the weekend, and then how I had to call Telkom twice to get them to reset the port on our exchange! Thanks for the update Mr Beep!

i only work after houres and i do like 1gb aday

will i be happy with it

if anyone plays mw3 on OW can answer my query i would be most appreciative:

on my current package i never get more than 2 yellow bars in the game summary. i want 5 green like the guys who kill me over and over and over:p. would upgrading to a gamers account move to the green signal status in the summary?

mr beep any chance of a test 1mb gamers account? im extremely happy with my account now so i dont want to upgrade only to find out that it had no effect on my gameplay.
 
What's the difference between the gold Leon package and the Gold uncapped orange package?
I'm paying R630 for my Gold 4mb orange uncapped but the Gold Leon package is R589, whats the deal here?

MW3 will give it a bash as soon as i get home tonight, Im on a 1mb Gamers King account and loving it.

Didn't play MW3 in forever, but my ping in Black Ops II doesn't go over 50 unless im doing something silly in the background :D
