My account is also very slow nowadays during the day. I don't mind shaping (in face I encourage it during the day) but its insane right now. Speedtest is still ok but most sites like gmail, facebook and any other international site is really slow. I saw the peering issue and can see that it is affecting me with some sites but that does not explain the slow general access.

What's happening guys?

General browsing should not be affected, as we do not shape this.

I would suggest you email us regarding the issue so that we can take a look

Do people know that this is not OpenWeb's official support channel?

Getting real tired of reading the same, "Help my line isn't working" posts.

Email SUPPORT for the love of god!

Everything is fine now but it usually is in the evenings. I'll keep you posted if it happens again tomorrow. I'n on a silver account so the shaping shouldn't be that aggressive. I really don't mind torrents and NZB crawling at 1Kb/s during the day but HTTP,FTP and so forth should be fast.

Yeah and some people are getting tired of their lines crawling

I got no problem with anyone posting in here, but it seems folks come here before they actually contact support. Every second person gets told to get in touch with support and 90% (thumbsuck) reply with "Ok, will do." ( <- indication of not doing so in the first place...as it should be )
It just gets real tiring reading the same thing over and over and over....

Like I said, if you've contacted support and nothing comes of it, go right ahead. I'll put up a stage for you with a massive PA system to announce your issues here. ;) Otherwise, stop clogging up a thread with:
"Help me! Moan moan moan"
"Contact support"
"Ok"

Doesn't it make sense to first contact support before posting on here? If this is, in fact, an official OpenWeb support channel, then my apologies. I'll promptly unsubscribe and never say anything again. ;) When I go to their website I don't see:
"If you have any issues please, contact us on the My Broadband OpenWeb thread"
Don't you get tired (and admittedly, maybe even a little annoyed) of reading the same thing?

EDIT: Apologies, now I'm clogging up this thread with useless moaning...but still, you know what I mean :)

Well, the fact that openweb uses this forum as a means of sorting out issues, makes it a support channel by default, now run away plz

Yeah, they should've stopped this right from the start, that I can agree with.

MrBEEP, is this now one of the official support channels?

If so, can we please get another thread where relevant information can get posted? Things like when the network is experiencing problems, when it's unshaped, promotions, actual feedback (negative/positive). Not this incessant "help me-help me-help me" that rakabos3 apparently, constantly, loves reading about?

Thank you!

True, but now we have a thread of 323 pages, and over half of the posts are exactly like what Sl8er mentioned! This should be a place to discuss problems that affect everybody (Seacomm down, OPENweb throttling policy) not every Tom ,Dick and Harrys connection issues.

I have not yet contacted OpenWeb support. I first want to see if my issue would be considered a genuine fault or merely the expected behaviour of the OpenWeb Gold product. A few minutes ago, I started an NNTP download which has not yet managed to exceed 40kB/s download. I understand that shaping is normal, but I consider less than 20% of line speed is a little harsh (I have a Openweb uncapped gold 2Mbps account).

Is this a fault or should I go looking for another ISP?
