As a matter of interest would you mind logging onto http://users.isdsl.net , logging in with your current router's username /password, click on ACCOUNT HISTORY and post the current months usage. I have a sneaky suspicion that "something" happens when you go beyond a certain usage point.

No-one with a problem willing to do this? Let me set the ball rolling. 452GB thus far.......

Here's a screenie of the torrent haphazardness...

Followed by this a few minutes later, and slowly improving...

Is this symptomatic of exchange congestion?

Not perhaps symptomatic of a decreased shaping policy?

Using a trial WebAfrica account for now and I assumed this would be unshaped...

EDIT: now up to full line speed - 200kB/s...

I am on 642GB and pretty sure this account is on top half of 1 star. My accounting estimates me doing 1.2TB this month.

During the day NNTP = dead both local and international.
During the day browsing is pretty much dead international, works locally to mybb and fnb internet banking.
HTTP downloads from something like http://ftp.wa.co.za goes at about 100kbyte/sec.
If I push traffic through and L2TP/Ipsec vpn (which I don't do too much) I get about 150kbyte/sec for any protocol over that.

After hours NNTP is random from 5pm to 11pm, anything from 250kbyte/sec to 500kbyte/sec.
1AM it will go up to full account speed.

This is on a 10mbit silver red special uncapped account.

To be honest I would have assume ever trial account is unshaped and turbo'd to the max. but yeah, torrents, I recon its the bane of every ISP's existence.

So those graphs you are posting are not OW, but WebAfrica?

Yes, but I only chose the WA account because the Openweb account was unusable. I then decided to test it out. Will post Openweb stats shortly...

Thanks mate, appreciate the feed back. Odd that yet another person refers back to the star rating system. I too have the exact same symptoms, exact. On 4MB Gold Original Uncapped.

Anyone else care to share?

All I am trying to prove is that *high* users are getting *punished*. I know this is not the OW policy, I do not blame OW, I do not intend leaving OW, but with enough proof / evidence maybe something can be done about it.

Fair enough. Would you mind posting you usage stats on your OW account?

Yep about the same thing here except that web browsing is fine during the day for me, just downloads that are shaped.

This is on a Gold Leon 10Meg account. I am on about 430gb now.

Sure...

And my torrent speeds on the OW account appear to be a little slower than the WA account, but far better than the 5kB/s I was getting before...

Residential area or more business? Business, sure, congested considering where you are. Me, I'm calling shaping.

Thanks. Please pardon my stupidity but what is the usage figure? I know it says 40459.296339 MB , is the 404 or 296 part your usage?

Purely residential...
Tough one mate. Considering torrents with their, both, upwards and downward *cost* I'm going shaping. If you read the other ISP forums it would seem its been a bad day bandwidth wise all round.

Thanks for the response. By "downloads" do you mean NNTP /P2P stuff or normal HTTP stuff? Me? I'm all for shaping the hell out of NNTP/P2P during office hours. Its fair. But HTTP should never suffer.

*&#%. Ok. So you're blowing my *theory* a little out the water on this one. Thanks bru :)

You didn't ,mention what package you where on?

Which theory was that?

BTW the package is in the usage stats - 2MB uncapped gold promo account...

Last time I checked international http downloads were shaped to about 20-30% during office hours, I will check again tomorrow now that I have downloaded more data for the month. Local speeds are generally very good regardless of time of day.

I never do NNTP during office hours so don't know, will also check tomorrow.
