Telkom got back to me, confirmed there is no congestion on my exchange ( as i thought). Getting latency of 850ms now in a local game. Switched to another ISP to test and latency was 35ms.

C:\Users\Administrator>

After running the tracert I checked again and the ping was sub 20ms, and running 100%. Which is weird? Earlier this evening just after 17:00 I had 850ms and now 21ms. Nothing changed on my side.

I will keep monitoring the account.

The moment this happens again, please post another tracert for us

Afternoon MrBEEP,

I just wanted to check if there were any issues with the OpenWeb network at the moment.

I understand that your are experiencing extremely high traffic presently and that heavy shaping was/is in effect, but I thought I'd ask consindering a few posts up it was stated that HTTP and YouTube streaming are prioritised. Presently HTTP and HTTP downloads feel a bit sluggish to me and when I stream from YouTube I'm getting speeds anywhere between 100-400KB/s when previously I'd constantly get 1MB/s. Just wanted to check in and see if there's any potential problem and whether or not this is currently related to the shaping going on.

Many thanks! :)

Oh, and I'm on the Gamer's Bundle 10meg package.

Thanks!

Guys

I am currently on a 1MB account and I am considering upgrading to 2MB line speed. (Unfortunately my finances only allows up to 2MB account.)

Do you guys think it is worth going from 1MB to 2MB line, taking into account a reduction in line speed due to shaping etc? What speeds are we looking at for Torrents, internet downloads and Youtube downloads.

I am normally (during evenings) getting a total avg speed of 0,82Mbps on speedtest.net.

Yes definitely. Go for it. You'll never be able to go back.

I would just like to ask about the 1 calendar month notice that needs to be given to cancel an Openweb ADSL account.
All their billing is done in advance and I've paid it in advance. Why do you need to give a calender month notice for a month to month service?
Surely I should be able to cancel any time before you next billing run?
I don't want to be held hostage...

I know Mweb still does the calender month notice thing, but all the other ISPs I've used in the past did not mind a cancellation as long as your account is up to date. This seems a bit weird to me...
