Hi Guzilam,

On which application are you achieving 2Mbps?

The network is quite busy currently, thus minor shaping is applied to P2P, torrents, NNTP and similar.

Hi, Mr.BEEP

Primarily on NNTP, web traffic seems to be fine.

Thx
Guz

I'd just like to say that OpenWeb's support and troubleshooting is absolutely fantastic. I had speed issue with one of our accounts at work yesterday and the problem was resolved VERY quickly. Every ISP encounters issues at some point, but OpenWeb is the one ISP that is quick to fix. If that means assigning me a new username/password to fix the issue within 20 minutes of reporting it, then that's fine with me!

I'd rather be given new login credentials to have the issue instantly sorted than to be strung along with excuses & stalling tactics and having fingers pointed everywhere else, like other ISPs are known to do.

OpenWeb for president! :D

I've got no connectivity since 15:00. Sent support an email. Currently using a backup account :(

Something must be majorly wrong. I haven't heard from support yet.

Support has cleared all tickets.

If you have not yet received a response, kindly PM me with your ADSL username

Can someone please explain whats the main difference between the 4mb standard uncapped and the 4mb gold uncapped?

I wanted to get the 8mb standard uncapped but my exchange cant support it. So next option would be the gold account.

I know that the contention ratio is less etc etc but in real world speeds what the difference? With the 4mb standard browsing is a bit sluggish during peak hours and torrent download speeds are around 20 - 30 KB/s. Which is expected as it is a shaped product.

What i would like to know: Is the gold account also shaped as much? Will browsing and torrents be faster? Especially during peak hours? Whats better about it? etc

That sort of thing?

TIA!

Basically you get shaped less and you get preference if any cable breaks happen.

Gold is on special btw:

I'm just popping in to say OpenWeb was great today, had 100% performance speed all day long. :)

Yes it is.

What's your line speed?

4mb. Telkom says that thats the maximum but they not very competent.

Somebody mentioned checking the router stats to see if its true and mine says:

Downstream Upstream
Current Rate(Kbps) 4096 512
Max Rate(Kbps) 8308 972
Noise Margin(dB) 7.8 12
Attenuation(dB) 45 27
Output Power(dBm) 8.5 7

So im not really sure

Well your SNR is a bit low. Even 5MB/s would be unstable I think.
