Hey Friends,

The fault has now been resolved.

This indicates a Telkom (more than likely) or router fault.

Kindly call Telkom on 10210 and have them test your line and router

No luck for me as yet, im in durbs outside pinetown

Router stuck at "initialize LCP" is this related to above issue or does my error indicate exchange fault?

Thanks for the reply MrBeep, was on hold with telkom (nothing new) while i was driving to shop for "beverages", then noticed an army of telkom techie vans at the my Kloof exchange **facepalm**

Looks like 3G for me today

FLYING here in Durban! Wouldn't exchange my OW account for anything in the world. The dedication of MrBeep and the staff are phenomenal! Which other company will have the founder as the MyBB rep????

Mr BEEP is the founder?!? All I can say is that he definitively deserves his pay slip every month.

MrBeep,

My issue has returned even after you reset the account for me. Please see the associated tracert to www.openweb.co.za

The internet is completely unusable at the moment. It has taken my 30 minutes just to try to upload and post this...

Hi DJ

What kind of DSL router do you have?
I had a similar problem that I traced to the router at that point. The next time it happens, can you do a ping from your PC to the router, and from your PC to hop number 2 (Should be a internet address.. 41.bla,bla or 196.bla,bla)

Limpo

Hi Limpo. I changed routers yesterday so let's see if I have the same issues moving forward...

horrible speeds this weekend. must have averaged 50KB/s only during the daytime. at night it would go up to linespeed again which is strange for an error.

mr beep have you guys given any thought to block data purchases? im inclined to purchase a block of data and then use it as i see fit. dont understand why only monthly blocks are available.

news servers for example have these blocks of data that you purchase and you use it as and when. no time limit. this would interest me. my queue is empty again since early this morning and it pains me. lol. yes it pains me. i havent seen the block data on offer at another ISP. not the ones that dont expire monthly anyways.

an unnamed ISP has made their capped offerings very attractive recently but my first choice is to see what you guys offer and preferably stay here. performance has been brilliant the majority of my stay.

Block data is a good idea. I will look into it

I think your problem was related to the IP routing issue.

If it persists tonight, please email us [email protected] so that we can investigate

Yep, I also experienced horrible speeds. Normally on weekends I have no problem with speed. (Telkom immediately came to mind....)

MrBEEP, how is the network load at the moment? Both my 10mb Gamer King accounts (work + home) are struggling. YouTube is crawling and some (not all) websites are horribly slow. Local speedtest.net tests seem to be shaped to 200kBps, giving me between 1-2mbit results.

Is the shaping pretty harsh today? I haven't emailed support yet, just wanted your feedback first.

Thanks :)

Again, incredible amounts of shaping applied to torrent traffic at the moment. Can't get more than 5kB/s on my 2MB line.

Speedtests show no local issues but international is a little slower than expected. Doesn't explain the awful torrent speeds.

Pinged my router with no issues, as suggested by Limpo. Also pinged hop 2 and hop 3 and there are no issues there at all. Ran a tracert to openweb with no problems. But ran a tracert to Microsoft and this is what happens...

This any different to what you get using your old router?

Hi DJ

Can you please try the test account I gave you earlier in the weekend

you on gold?

Hi Prodigy

Shaping is currently applied as the network load is high.

For some reason all and sundry are downloading torrents currently.

We forecast things to improve between around 18:00 and 19:00
