A bit better than yesterday on my side but still running at 1/10th of my line speed.

Gamers king right? Got 50% before my download completed. Line idle now. But we need to get this prioritized after hours downloading we paying for sorted out.

Been smooth sailing here all night. Browsing and YouTube in general has a snappy unshaped feel to it :)

Streaming The Tek in 1080p from YouTube. This is the good stuff :)

Hats off to you Openweb.

Hey Mr Beep, My first activation debit went off my bank account without a hitch, however the one that was supposed to go off yesterday has not been debited from my account. Should I give it more time or start to panic? Has this happened to anybody else? Cheers.

Does openweb still do test accounts. Would like to see what the latency is like. As afrihost and axxess is bad compared to my current Mweb. Buy need to move from them due to there current policies.

Hi,

Our general debit batch will tun on the 1st working day of October for October's access :)

I streamed the game from superport's site and it only buffered 4 times. On a 2mb line. But a guarantee that the Bok game will be perfect would be appreciated...

Getting lags on both the SS and European streams for rugby at the moment... More lags on SS though =(

Hi Bighit,

We have no general issues currently.

All seems to have settled nicely.

There are MANY Telkom exchange issues open today though. Can you please email [email protected] with a tracert to www.openweb.co.za so that we can have a look

Looking at other ISP's threads (Afrihost, Telkom Internet) it would seem the problem lies with SS rather than the ISPs themselves. Maybe SS' network/servers are not capable to handle all the connections to them?

Have anybody reported this to SuperSport/MWEB yet??

Michael

Problem definitely with SS. Their system needs a complete overall. Streaming the rugby with no faults from European providers. SS's stop start performance is irritating, not to mention the lack of widescreen.

I have an update. I'm streaming from a European stream and since my port was reset (Thanks to Charmaine from OW) almost exactly 30 minutes ago, I've had no lagging at all. The first 10 minutes of the game was like a slide show. Not even using SS, I've never liked their streams.

So I can only assume that there was an insane amount of shaping going on this weekend, even on Gold accounts. The rugby was impossible to watch. I had to reload the stream about 50 times at least to watch.

How did I come to the conclusion that it was Openweb? Because I called Telkom and they said that there was no congestion and no issues with my line. I ran a tracert and all was fine. I then loaded a torrent and browsing crawled to a halt as well, which MrBeep has explained happens when they're shaping the network quite heavily. I also ran speedtests and everything was fine. Running at just below my usual line speed which is more than enough to handle SS's piddly little streams. I also browsed Youtube and it was working 100%.

So even on a 2mb line the rugby from a local Supersport server was practically impossible.

I am fuming! Absolutely fuming. This is unacceptable for a weekend...

EDIT: I see that this might in fact be an issue with Supersport. MrBeep, can you confirm whether my anger needs to be directed at Supersport instead? I am getting sick and tired of this now - I pay a premium subscription to DSTv specifically for the sports streaming. I'd have removed it yonks ago from my office had I known that this sort of nonsense would be a regular occurrence...
