No Beep, torrents, even though shaped, should not get less than 1Kbps.

I don't believe there are any minimum speeds stipulated for shaped protocols during busy hours. If you use a shaped product expect to be shaped, sometimes more than other times.

There are no limits specified on shaping. Shaping is based on how busy the network is at any given time, your contention ratio, and is dynamically controlled.

Once Telkom drops the price of IPC by 50%, we would be able to offer a more unshaped environment, until then, unfortunately, there is not much we can do.

If you would like an unshaped experience, kindly purchase a capped unshaped product or one of our Unshaped products.

Hi Friends,

You have probably noticed, but we have loaded a bonus unshaped evening tonight to apologise for todays daytime issues.

This should allow folks to catch up on some much needed downloads.

I am referring to slow daytime browsing and streaming.

These protocols should not be slow.

Well Mr Beep, it has been slow or rather in my case it has. Particularly the streaming has been quite infuriatingly slow and I'm talking about 480p streaming...hell I can't even stream properly now and it's after hours. This isn't a once off either as it's been rearing it's ugly head often.

I've been logging tickets with regards to this issue but alas I just keep on getting moved over to one mediocre IS backbone to the next. Am I even on a GOLD account?!

No need to apologize! :D Thank you :D:cry::)!!!

Hello

Kindly PM me so that I can take a look.

If you are having a problem right now, then it is not account or data related.

Does openweb have anything close to the afrihost R790 or telkoms R699 for 10MB

I have been with openweb for the past 4 years.

looking for 10mb.

4mb gold isnt what it used to be

Is it really worth all the support hassles having these dodgy accounts?

OW must have the highest support requirement per user- all this PM'ing and calling/emailing support so they can 'take a look' or reset the account or provide new account details must at some point start costing more than simply providing a service that just works?

Hi Budza,

It seems like the OW thread is then the only thread you read. Browsing through just 2 pages of other ISP threads on the forum have as many if not more 'PM me for assistance' or 'email support@xxx' for assistance' comments.

I do invite you, Budza, to PM me if you are having an issue. I would be more than happy to assist :)

There're plenty of problems all round, sure. I just don't see as many new accounts / details being handed out as a solution. I was just wondering if it's something you could investigate to prevent support queries...

Thanks for the bold- I usually use your standard channels, but I may try this next time too.

For the first time in 2 weeks, speeds are much more improved today. The shaper is at work no doubt about that but it's not infringing on my browsing. YouTube and local sites are maxing out at 60kb/s.

I look forward to hearing from you.

This is something that makes OpenWeb unique. If we can get the client back online immediately, we will. If this involves handing out new details left right and centre, that is ok.

I demand the guys get the client back up and running first, and then in our own time investigate the cause of the issue. This allows us to dedicate more time to troubleshooting, and the client is immediately happy.

Perhaps we are the only ISP with this motto, but we have no intnetion of changing it.

Streaming is very slow. Hulu takes forever to buffer on medium settings and Youtube barely keeps up at 360p. Frequently needs to reload the page, because the stream would just stop dead for some reason. Not normal shaping I presume (or hope)?

Origin download averages out at around 170kBps, which is acceptable I guess.

I'm on 4Mbps Gamer's King.
