Speed has been awesome from Friday night 17:00. I'm so impressed with OpenWeb's service and support that I had my Vanilla account upgraded to the new Hero Uncapped package. I haven't tested the new account yet.

No it is not.

Gold Uncapped (Leon) has a lower contention ratio and higher priority on the network compared to Standard. As a Gold member, you will also get priority during our guaranteed unshaped experiences.

Just out of curiosity, how does Hero Uncapped compared to Gamers King? Because the latter is no good for gaming on weekdays.
 
Hero Uncapped has a slightly higher contention ratio, but the same priority on Gaming.

To the contrary. Hero Uncapped performs beautifully for Gaming. If you experience a different result, I would recommend you contact [email protected] as the fault is more than likely not on the account side.

Contention ratios did not really come into play this weekend, as it was another Guaranteed Unshaped Experience weekend.

I've contacted support many, many times. They can't help me. I'll PM you my details again but I'm a little tired of the dance. I even signed up for a separate unshaped 10GB account for this purpose on Friday, which worked fine, and things always improve dramatically in the evenings, so I can't see what else it can be but the daytime shaping on the account.

I've only had one afternoon with the unshaped account so far so I'll see how it goes tomorrow, and send you my details in the meantime.

Will I be able to upgrade to 2mb when the adsl upgrades take effect if I sign up the 1mb Gold Uncapped Leon now?
 
Just would like to say thanks to Openweb for the unshaped weekend. I can confirm that downloads were ridiculously fast and consistently so all weekend.

Confirms that the horrendously poor speeds I'm getting during the week have everything to do with exchange congestion on the Clareinch Exchange. Lets hope some MSANs roll around this area soon :whistle:

If your monthly amount is the same or more, you will be able to upgrade yes :)

I too would like to say thank you for the unshaped weekend. My downloads were also extremely fast :D

I been considering upgrading to a 2MB package, but do you guys think I should rather wait and see what may pop up after Telkom's November line upgrades?
 
Once again, as per usual, I can't stream anything. Not even on 144p. Which is no surprise because it's the same story everyday during the week. Line stats are fine so it's not telkom. I've genuinely had enough of this now..

Just because line stats are ok, doesn't mean it isn't Telkom.


Having said that, looks like the internet is pretty slow today in general. Any issues currently? Only international download speeds it looks like though, but across all protocols.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 168 kbps (21 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 484 kbps (60.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 206 ms
