i also thought that but wont the gold be faster and more stable in streaming?
Never used a Gold account, but the contention ratios are better, so it should be better I suppose.

Having said all of the above though, my line seems to be at about half speed atm, BOTH upstream and downstream, which is odd. Must be Telkom again.

on youtube my line run at half seed most of the time :(

but other things is 100%

that why i think gold will be better

i dont even know how much i use. but these days its much less than when i started. if i get a nice bargain on a HDD then who knows. but its not a problem for OW.

Emailed support today , as speed has been consistently slow when browsing on my 2mb gold uncapped.
Very impressed , issue was handled by CEO and two other employees .
they moved me to an alternate network and everything working great
+1 Openweb

Agreed. You can upgrade your account at any time, just remember that you can upgrade instantly but you have to give calendar month notice to downgrade.

@sybertiger. ^^ this is exactly why I would personally go for the GK account first. Can always upgrade in a flash, but downgrading will take a while.
As mentioned, contention ratios on Gold-level is better than on GK, so streaming should be better all round.

@Zertop - NNTP, Torrents and HTTP download protocols are all dead to crawling during the day between 10h00 and 17h00~18h30. Daytime browsing and streaming is mostly unaffected, with a hiccup every now and then. Havent experienced any slowdowns during the evenings and weekends recently, but when you do, be sure that OW's support team attends to you quickly.

Hi Kenny,

It all depends on volume.

You should be receiving your new details before 11am this morning.

Evening all,
Doesn't Openweb activate their accounts immediately? or is it next day?

With these results I am unable to stream high or HD quality from netflix UK, only 240p.

I just don't get it, downloads run at full line speed, latency is excellent. Streaming is just not good at all. I keep being told it's my line or it's the router or or or, but then switch to different isp's and it works, I have been switched between accounts and same results.

Also tried different devices, windows 7, windows 8.1 and also my PS3 same results. You can manually set the quality on Netflix with CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+S and if you set it 1750 is HD I can only set it to a max of 560 then it starts pausing to buffer every 5 minutes or so.

what will u guys take
10mbps and everyday uncap
or
4mbps loen gold uncap?

Start off with 10mbps.
It's cheaper to experiment with and upgrading is immediate as opposed to downgrading that takes a calendar month.

I would also analyse how frequent i get speeds over 4mbps, during shaped and unshaped hours, over a period of atleast a week. If you get speeds exceeding 4mbps majority of the time, it'll be pointless going for the gold account.

u got a good point i will do that :)

the checker says i support max of 4mbps

but i life litery 1.5km from my work and there i can get 10mbps

so i should try to get the 10mbps,if not 4mbps it is then

Wanted to suggest expanding the network status a little on the website.

I know during busy times torrents and downloads are the first to take a hit and then if it gets busier, streaming.
It's a necessary evil, I totally understand, but reflecting that on the website would be great! Then I'd know when I to raise a issue or just be patient.

Thanks from happy OW'er!
