MrBeep, I'm starting to get a bit irritated now hey... 3rd day in a row I'm posting about this issue.
I moan, it seems to come right after.

My line is dead.
Steam has up and down connectivity
Origin (when I try play games) can't even sync cloud data.
Internet browsing is up and down, Facebook works, then it doesn't... MyBB works, and then it doesn't.

When I change to an Afrihost account, no issues.

I don't expect anything to run fast, but joh! No... internet working, then not, then working, then not... This is bugging me big time!

We used to offer unconditional unshaped Browsing. Some folks decided that it is a great idea to download over the Browsing protocol. The abuse was a very very very very very very very costly affair. We feel this is a fair way of mitigating the abuse.

The policy is very fair. It does not immediately shape browsing. Only if it sees your download persisting, will it affect your browsing. AND ONLY DURING PEAK.

Offpeak you can go monkey nuts and no-one will care.

Blame Telkom. If they drop their IPC rate by 50% these silly policies will not be necessary. They are the thorn in everyones side.

I am sorry, but don't blame Telkom. OpenWeb is our ISP not Telkom.

It is up to you guys to provide us with adequate bandwidth and provide us the service we pay for.

Did you actually read and understand his post????

Only real issue I am having atm is getting constant streaming performance. It seems to go through cycles, often on a fairly short term basis. Doesn't matter what quality the streams are. Even having intermittent issues with something needing less than 400 kbps atm.

Streaming is a fairly important part of my internet. Getting most of my sport and series this way.

It's fine... straight after I posted (maybe 10 minutes) the line started working again... this happens every day...
I restart router, I change to different accounts, Afrihost account always works - when I switch to OpenWeb account, I have issues, till I "say something" and then it comes right "till tomorrow"
It's very frustrating.

Ok...

I have random timeouts on webpages today, started exactly 1am this morning. Pages take ages to load... this has to be a new record of how short of a period my account was working.

Strange thing is youtube is loading hd...

OpenWeb;

Listen, as far as STEAM is concerned, what is the best 'server' to use to get top speeds?
I'm doing alot of downloading at the moment that involves quite a few of the "Free to Play" games and I'd like to get them as fast as possible obviously.

Really differs between each person. Try the IS Gaming mirror. I pretty much max it all day.

My line is up and down like a bunny rabbit again, one minute it's nice and fast, next it's dead, dead for a couple of minutes, starts again.

That's usual for Steam. Get a network monitor and monitor the usage from there. Steam's own bandwidth calculations and stuff is whack. It tells me I peak at 4MB/s....which is physically impossible on my line.

The fluctuations sound very much like a Telkom or router fault.

Please PM me so that we can start the troubleshooting process.
