Well it's a fairly good sign router may be related or damaged. Lucky you though, this is my trace route. OW however is great, Telkom not so much :D

My concern is with;

13 * * * Request timed out.

why is that a concern? it could be that icmp is filtered out on that specific device. if your traceroute did not complete, then yes, maybe.. but in this case you managed to get from point a to b and back...

if you look at Luffy101's trace via a different network,

so icmp is def filtered out on that device after you hit

core-access-switch1.jnb1.host-h.net [197.189.193.1]

definitely not openweb's fault.. not sure why it is a concern for you though

Forgive this noob... I thought it may be why my downloads time out and are capped at 55KBs only on this account.

Oh well... will use backup accounts and try again next week.

All Isps have a shaping device or devices.

This is the hardware that slows down downloads during peak times.

Mweb has a very good shaping device :)

I know what shaping is and how it works. It just they make it sound like its something you buy at Makro in a box, with a 1 year warranty. I'm actually just upset with OW's support staff. Talking to a person like they are children. I lost my cool last night. Not cool, I know. But man it is frustrating.

I have found Openweb to be exrtremely slow during the day and its affecting my work really badly. Must have lost over R500 this week alone. Time to find something I can use during the day

Its Saturday and I am only getting max 107 kbps on a 2 meg line. Yet speed test indicates 176. So does this mean throttling on weekends?

Interesting. Was told speedtest fall under "download" category for them so it should be slower than your browsing experience. Because "We do not prioritise speedtest like other ISP's, therefore speedtest will not fall under the Browsing category." their words, not mine...

Post your results and a traceroute. I don't see any shaping at the moment.

The network is currently unshaped, and will remain this way until Monday at 8am.

This is a good time to find out if your problem is router, Telkom line or config related, as the network is purring along beautifully.

Would you prefer to have us prioritise speedtest? This will make our lives alot easier.

We just thought it would not be good to give you false results, but it seems like this is what you are requesting?

Kindly PM me your ADSL username so that I can investigate.
