Ok let me show you what I pay for.
Also note how people would claim that http://users.isdsl.net/ is in-accurate, but here is proof it is not.

So on the 20th of Jan 2014 finished the debit order to get my 10Mbps titan uncapped account. My initials out of interest sake is DB or DHB. Yet the username I was assigned is rb1****@openweb.co.za - strange?

Also out of interest sake, most of you would know, buying an IS based account from Plugg for example, allow 2 concurrent connections, where as Openweb advertises only 1 is allowed, also on the IS network?

Anyways so I had a buddy at big bad network do some investigation for me, and here is what he has found:

Pic 1 on 20th:
openweb-multiple-sell-IS-accounts.png

Pic 2 on 20th:
openweb-multiple-sell-IS-accounts-more.png

Ok so a Renier B**** is also on this account, wait that spells the 1st 2 letters on the username!!

Pic 3 on the 21st:
openweb-multiple-sell-IS-accounts-day-later.png

Now you see why I am so annoyed at this? I knew beforehand what is going on with the IS based accounts and Openweb, but because another friend who ordered the Titan account got a MTN based account, I assumed cool I will not have this problem then, except I was wrong.

I hate account sharing, I know how it will affect us both, sharing speed if you both in the same region or if separate regions IS half the account speed. Not only that, the other guy also affects your star rating with IS, it is highly annoying.

What does IS say about this?

I have reported this before but I don't think I got a reply. now i couldn't get that kinda detail but that website gives the two concurrent sessions.

I guess it is like @mikeygza says, IS make up the account, it is up to the reseller how they sell the accounts, so IS not doing anything about it.

No harm in asking instead of leaving it up to guess work.

IS only provides the platform for the DSL services, just like SAIX and MTN for their resellers.

It is up to the resellers to decide how they want to create each account, or formulate their packages, sharing etc. Resellers build their own solutions using the various options available to them.

SAIX, IS, MTN should not have to care about resellers' packages. If the reseller decides to allow two concurrent sessions on an account then so be it. Each reseller is obviously trying to stand-out from the rest.

Think of it like building your own pizza ;-)

SAIX, IS, MTN provides the pizza base as well as the various goodies to go onto it, and the resellers are the ones building the various pizza offerings for their restaurant.

Not all pizza's are created equally ;-)

The CEO is quiet about this, so then tell me does your findings explain the constant authentication problems?

accounts stops authenticating and then new account is given...

Because it was sold to an other person?

how will this account sharing impact on the day time speeds i wonder??

Correct.

Our ADSL network is powered by IS.

We purchase raw capacity from them, and cut and dice the as we see fit.

It is similar to purchasing wholesale IPC from Telkom, local from SAIX and international from Seacom and managing ourselves.

The difference is, our upstream providers network is rock solid and has years of experience behind it, therefore we prefer to purchase through them.

This subject has been discussed many times over. And each time it comes up, the trolls are standing by to predict the demise of OpenWeb. Sorry trolls. Not today.

We do not log usage stats on uncapped accounts. The majority of our clients prefer it this way, and this is the way we will keep it. We have asked many times in the past for clients not to use the users.is application as it does not apply to our accounts.

We will request IS to block access to this resource in the future to avoid confusion.

I should add, we do not use the star rating on IS. We have our own shaping policies in effect.

The account sharing is a problem, what if you are sharing an account with someone unknowingly and he/she/it tried to download a torrent or articles from a news server during the day, are you not then shaped for an hour? I cannot see how shaping is not limited to account logon?

Shaping on browsing when downloads are running is applied via ADSL circuit number.

We however do not assign one username more than once. There have however been a few cases in the past where the system assigned the same username to two clients who ordered the same product seconds after the other but we have since identified and corrected this bug.

Tinuv is a troll ?

Not sure where you are getting this from but no one here was predicting anything. A simple question was asked, which I added too for clarification to ask IS about it.

How does calling people trolls answer their questions?

It seems at times you really roll it out like that time a question was asked and you shouted about IPC costs.

I don't see mweb guy doing this...

HEY TROLL! Get back in under your bridge dammit, tired of you popping in here only to add your two cents of worthless jibber jabber.

You don't like it? GTFO

Joined OpenWeb a week ago on a 8MB Gold Uncapped account, and wanted to know how common it was for this connection to be shaped to 10-20 kbps during the peak hours. I can understand shaping, but not being able to use the Internet for half a day doesn't sound right. I don't mind not downloading during the peak hours, but when doing general tasks is extremely tedious, questions need to be asked. Support has mentioned dynamic shaping and contention ratios, but where does "Priority over Vanilla, Standard and Silver!" fall. Does this mean those accounts have no Internet at all during peak hours? I'm worried I made a bad decision here!

Ok why is my username in use by 2 users then (as shown in the pics)?

In the mean time I cant even open Standard bank internet banking and everything else is extremely slow, streaming radio - 31k stream, is buffering all the time, 270kb attachment from gmail - 5 min to download WTF?

Kindly PM me your ADSL username so that I can investigate

@MrBEEP

You know the issues with shaping during business hours, I need a working account and this one just isn't (Gold)

My experience with OW:

Email support - I'm done wasting time dealing with support emails. Why should I bother to have you "look into it"
if you very well know it's a shaping/problem with many accounts. Just read here (and on Hello Peter)
Call centre - It's impossible to get past the agent at the call center. All they do is take your number and
nobody ever call you back. Still waiting for the CEO's call from weeks ago.
Cancel account - Nobody replies. So you want to take another R299 for poor daytime service in Feb?

I can't use the service during the day.
I can't actually speak to anybody at accounts/admin/support, ever.
I can't get things fixed via email.
And I can't get a reply/confirmation on my cancellation request/questions.

And for this, you want me to pay for Feb?

You think you've got exchange congestion? Well check this out..
