I see Leon has responded to your ticket.

If a port reset works for you, I would strongly advise you log a fault with Telkom, as this is an action that takes place on their equipment, not OpenWeb's.

There are no issues with the IS news server currently.

Kindly try: news.is.co.za

Is anyone else experiencing NNTP speed issues/shaping. The is.newshost.co.za and another non-local host are basically non-existent when it comes to speed. This is the second time in a week there is this issue.

I previously logged a ticket the first time and then it came right with a response that a ticket will be logged with the uplink provider.

Using is.newshost.co.za is half the reason I'm with Openweb or I could find cheaper alternatives elsewhere.

Apologies for the NOOB question.
Could you please provide the server detail I must use to access the IS news server?
Do I need to use username?
I tried all options, but still cannot access it.

Havn't had any issues with NNTP over the past month or so. When MrBeep releases the kraken, i get 100% line speed.
Possibly bad articles you're trying to grab? Exchange congestion?

You get what you pay for in the end.

I'm on an IS account too and my daytime speed is fine.
Ok let me show you what I pay for.
Also note how people would claim that http://users.isdsl.net/ is in-accurate, but here is proof it is not.

So on the 20th of Jan 2014 finished the debit order to get my 10Mbps titan uncapped account. My initials out of interest sake is DB or DHB. Yet the username I was assigned is rb1****@openweb.co.za - strange?

Also out of interest sake, most of you would know, buying an IS based account from Plugg for example, allow 2 concurrent connections, where as Openweb advertises only 1 is allowed, also on the IS network?

Anyways so I had a buddy at big bad network do some investigation for me, and here is what he has found:

Pic 1 on 20th:

Pic 2 on 20th:

Ok so a Renier B**** is also on this account, wait that spells the 1st 2 letters on the username!!

Now you see why I am so annoyed at this? I knew beforehand what is going on with the IS based accounts and Openweb, but because another friend who ordered the Titan account got a MTN based account, I assumed cool I will not have this problem then, except I was wrong.

I hate account sharing, I know how it will affect us both, sharing speed if you both in the same region or if separate regions IS half the account speed. Not only that, the other guy also affects your star rating with IS, it is highly annoying.

That means nothing. Plugg also sells accounts that only allow a single connection.

As far as I know, it is up to the reseller to decide how they want their accounts structured and sold. They decide the terms and conditions. IS only provides the platform, but the reseller is the one creating the formulas for their accounts.

But I agree with your feelings on account sharing.
