Think the problem is you are pinging facebook  .... sies :D

Exchange looking fine(ish), just PM MrBeep your info, generally very quick to reply

try and ping something local (like mybb)... to check if latency is on international only

It is international, but these thing tend to resolve themselves.

Give telkom a quick call and do a port reset, or even try a router reboot first and see if that helps.

Plucking at straws a bit here but just trying to be helpfull and do my random act of kindness for the day

Was only pulling your leg on the facebook thing :)

Looks like packet loss?

Try do a continuous ping to the second hop and check for consistency?

ping ip address -t

Give Telkom a quick call? Do you perhaps live an a parallel universe? lol

If it's packet loss it could be caused by a few factors.

Only time i get heavy packet loss is when one or more of those white blue green vans from a certain company are parked at my exchange

The fact still remains.....something is buggy........and i have ruled out router, exchange, and local.....ergo....

Dat b tru, but my exchange is 6kms away, on the other side of a park and across a suburb, and Telkom says there is no demand for a mini dslam. Buggers already forced me to buy a new modem because my other one (Billion wireless adsl2+) would no longer work with my line after they doubled the speed, doubled it theory (yet does on others)....

Joined OpenWeb a week ago on a 8MB Gold Uncapped account, and wanted to know how common it was for this connection to be shaped to 10-20 kbps during the peak hours. I can understand shaping, but not being able to use the Internet for half a day doesn't sound right. I don't mind not downloading during the peak hours, but when doing general tasks is extremely tedious, questions need to be asked. Support has mentioned dynamic shaping and contention ratios, but where does "Priority over Vanilla, Standard and Silver!" fall. Does this mean those accounts have no Internet at all during peak hours? I'm worried I made a bad decision here!

You've made a terrible decision joining Openweb. If I were you I'd get out as fast as I can. I was with them for 2 months and that seemed like hell as I mostly work from home and ended up running up my MTN 3G card. 1 month to sign on, 1 month cancellation. My current ISP rarely throttles or shapes my line. My downloads are extremely fast and I average 15gigs usage a day. My speeds are available 24/7.

Thank you troll :)
