There are no general network issues.

What we know currently is that there are alot of regional Telkom network notices open. We have double checked all aspects of the network and its running well.

We are getting alot of reports regarding the latency. This is either Telkom or hardware related, as our network has not suffered from general high latency for a number of years. This is critical to us, therefore we monitor it more than closely.

I see what you mean, yet I can open www.microsoft.com without problems, even while streaming a Youtube video. Isn't there still SAT-3 or SEACOM issues?

Not a healthy tracert at all.

Kindly PM me with your details so that I can have a look

Can't access some international websites.

I'm in Pietermaritzburg (KZN).

Provided is a tracert to MS's site.

Good morning friends,

Wishing you a successful and prosperous week!

Good morning friends,

Good morning MrBEEP,

A big thank you to you and the team at OpenWeb for sorting out my account issues all through this weekend and even late at night :)

Quick question for openweb users. Is it normal for a gold uncapped account to perform at 1 meg line speeds during the day on all protocols. after 5 and over weekends it performs at 6 meg speeds as normal

I thought I was getting a bargain. I was on 8MB Silver with acceptable business hours speeds. I got greedy & upgraded to 10MB Gold (Power). Biggest mistake of my life. My line performs just better than a 384Kb during business hours! I get told, that if I want better I must upgrade to Original Gold! What guarantee do I have that it will be better? Either something changes & improves, or my ISP changes!

Shaping will affect downloads speeds during peak shaping times.

We do however try and offer as much speed as we can after hours when capacity becomes available.

It also important to note that we do not prioritise speedtest traffic. Therefore, the result you get on Speedtest will show your download speed, not your browsing speed

Not just talking about speedtest. Even stuff like youtube and gaming is unusable. If the only thing usable during the day is normal browsing I am glad I am moving on.

I feel your pain. I was a "converted OW user", could see no wrong. I posted Speedtests etc. This is my Current 10MBS Gold Power Account.

Just before end of Business Hours:

After Hours... Half an Hour Later:

And I ask you with tears in my baby blue eyes. IS THIS GOLD???

All I ask for, is that during the day, I get at least 30%(SA's passmark) of the 10MB purchase?

YOU GET 1MEG DURING THE DAY .... Lucky you!! :p

The answer to your question is - yes.

As best I can make out, looking at the threads here, the normal domestic packages seem to all suffer this to some degree or another, but my OW account during the day is just useless. Of course after hours and weekends its just superb - absolute bliss.

I did consider the upgrade to Gold, but it seems the Gold accounts don't fare any better, so I stayed with the gamers account that I am on currently.

Ticket sent to openweb support, hope they can resolve this without me having to switch to another account. Again.

Unless I'm still being shaped on a gold account at 19:00?

Sounds like a case of lighting struck the telephone pole and damaged the wiring. Had a similar issue a few months ago, but mine was the upstream part that was giving problems.
