GPM, to be fair, there are a lot of variables influencing account stability. I really, highly doubt the issue is on OpenWeb's side if, after weeks, you are still experiencing those speeds.

As per the other thread... my results;

-----------

No problems here... still flying.

Cape Town, 1Mb OpenWeb Gold.

Well after an account switch my daytime speed improved dramatically and seems my evening speeds was thanks to telkom, Ilogged a fualt with them on friday and today im flying at full 2 Meg speeds. Good service from both telkom and openweb.

PS: The telkom opperators are hellishly funny though. After I had my 1M line upgraded to 2M the telkom opperator kept arguing that I was actually paying for a 1M line but getting the extra speed free from telkom.

Well, technically you are. Telkom upgraded all the 1mb lines to 2mb free of charge, and upgraded all the 384 lines to 1mb lines free of charge too.

Contemplating moving from R299 openweb gold 2mb special to 4mb standard special at R369 or however much it is.

I generally only download after hours (I work)

Anyone here have a 4mb standard account - hoping to pull in the region of 250gb a month

Currently slithering along at 1.62mbps on 4MB Uncapped Gold (Local.....lets not even talk international). Maybe its just the weather. Will wait and see what tomorrow brings...

Okay, this is just plain ridiculous. Has p2p been killed on the IS backbone? Since last week I've been getting really crappy speeds on torrents, and I thought maybe it just needs to even out a bit, but the speeds continue. I tried two other torrents and despite both being exceptionally well-seeded, neither tops 5kb/s. Not even after hours. In 39 hours I've managed to download an astonishing 1.3gb.

Certainly this can't be right? Not on a 1mb line that's unshaped after-hours?

Ridiculous. 35 minutes on a new, well-seeded torrent, and 1.93mb has been downloaded.

The sooner things with VB get sorted out, the better. I had almost zero issues with my VB account in over a year, and I've been having constant issues almost non-stop ever since losing the VB account.

Seems to be working fine here, I managed this while other PC downloading from Apple iTunes movies simultaneously

Nah, mine's still absolutely crawling along. Other protocols run fine, but p2p is dead. 2h 43m and I've managed an astonishing 8mb by now.

Definitely not an issue with the seeds as three other torrents that are also well-seeded are running the same.

Mmmmmm...currently doing 17kbps downloading from Usenet on 4MB Uncapped Gold. Me thinks a fresh account is in order.

Well apparently there is a new SAIX backbone that you can get on a gold account. But if you are on a promotional gold account like me (been on it for more than a year now) you have to pay more to get it. Anyone know about it? How does it perform vs the IS backbone? Speeds during day time has been terrible and I am getting 384k speeds on my 4m gold account.

Hi Rohan,

The 4Mbps Gold for R738 can move to our SAIX trial - but there is very limited quantity available currently.

Smaller accounts could qualify if on promotion depending on the promotion amount.

MrBeeb, how are speeds on this new account. I need my internet to actually work during day time. At the moment I am getting 1kb/s to 30kb/s. I don't want to pay more and then get an account that doesn't work. I do some gaming and NNTP and then also lots of surfing etc. for work.

Sent you an email. Need some more info please before I make a decision.

You think I could maybe move to the SAIX trial? If so, would smtp.saix.net work as my outgoing mail server?

PS:

Using a standard 4MB Uncapped Gold @ R738 PM

Yesterday and today this is the result for international speed test on 4mb uncapped silver:

Test conducted on 10 October 2012 12:21:46 PM

Download Speed: 1269 kbps (158.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 606 kbps (75.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 221 ms

Is this normal? Getting 3mb on local.
