OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread

I do agree with you, but I feel the confusion is created in how we are displaying it currently.

If we can provide an all in one page display, with comparable differences between each service level, it will go a long way in assisting clients with their final choice.

I must say, OpenWebbers LOVE the choice between the difference service levels. We have worked many years on perfecting these, and feel that we are at a level where each service offers its own superior experience.

Ultimately, with OpenWeb the choice is the clients as to whether they would like an adffordable entry level product, that still outperforms our competitors (especially if you focus in on latency and reliability) or one of our Premium products that offer you 24 / 7 download and business access without any shaping (or any of the products inbetween)

Dunno but I'd imagine it would be OK after hours. Std is fine even during biz hours so I'd imagine vanilla would be fine after hours.

@MrBeep: I think perhaps 6 different levels of uncapped (incl gold unshaped) is a bit too much...creates confusion.

I don't know if it's because of Afrihost and others moving away, but IS is performing wonderfully!

I'm the biggest ISP whore I know.. wasted many hundreds on using two uncapped packages at once due to these god awful calendar month notice periods.. but I've done it again and moved to OpenWeb Vanilla - pings are great (from CPT), speeds are great. I am not a heavy user and only use torrents after hours and I work from home during office hours (lots of http/https/ssh).. so I will see how this goes so far so good for day 1 but we will see.

I gather there is no usage stats for OW yet?

I have been happy with the performance of I got with the IS backbone and Openweb's shaping.
But since Telkom upgraded the 384s to 1mbs I cannot use the line anymore, because of the added congestion.
Having latencies of 1200 is not nice.

A Telkom technician has been trying to 'fix' this for a month.

I'm going to cancel adsl, and get 3g, since this will decrease my latencies by 5 or 6 times...

Is it not due to excess noise on the line perhaps? Have you asked them to clock you back down to 384?

Also thought that, but I have been on 1mb before the upgrade, also after the upgrade my SNR and attenuation have improved a bit.

Just changed to openweb and enjoying it!
The free game makes up for me having to pay mweb and openweb for November. Didn't know you must give mweb 30 days notice.
