My connection/line is fkd, 3rd modem now and they all do the exact same thing, connect for a while then disconnects modem searches for line again connects and then disconnects, the telkom line route isnt an option anymore they have completely fkd it up!
 
I see the special offer for Gold Uncapped is over :(

I'm looking at changing to OpenWeb at the end of the month but I can't make up my mind as to which 1mbs uncapped package to sign up for :?

i just ordered the Vanilla Uncapped, cause R108 is insane pricing. Few things i want know:

What is the general Fair usage policy for these accounts?
It says good downloading after hours, is this 7pm -> 7am?
What type of downloading is shaped? News servers, http, P2p ?
 
We do not throttle, we shape based on how busy the network is at any given time.

Generally, if the network is quiet, we unshape matters as much as we can.

When shaping is applied, downloads and similar will be affected

The last few weeks have been great (in terms of downloading). Full speed all the time as long as Telkom lines allow it! For anyone curious I have got Gold Plus which is the upgraded version of Gold and which is not available anymore. (it is quite an unshaped product). I have no idea how Gold works but I think it should work fine too. I tried Mweb to see if it is Telkom's fault and yeah it definetely is because I got lower speeds at MWEB. I really like the gradiation in packages with OpenWeb, don't see that with other ISPs. Also a big plus for the service!

Could OpenWeb within a few moths also begin to handle Telkom lines? That would mean a lot of less trouble calling and stuff :)

I hardly think this post is fair.

You only emailed support a few minutes ago with your support issue. It appears as if at the same time you decide to post it on here with all kinds of accusations ?

We identified a problem with your account and immediately issued you with a new account.

I believe it is your intention to rather place damage on OpenWeb's brand, than have the problem resolved, otherwise you would've allowed our support staff to resolve your issue before posting here...

[I wonder how a person should expose bad advertising. The advertising board?.

Openweb advertised .......HURRY HURRY HURRY only 200 account available. buy now to avoid disappointment. Once OFF deal R149.00 uncapped which is throttled during working hours and full line speed after hours. Well i got an AXXESS account uncapped >>>> OPENWEB account >>>>> and an Afrihost capped account.

For now i am so annoyed on the 2nd of the month i am getting 25k/s on my OPENWEB ACCOUNT and 212 k/s on my afrihost account.

You may say yeah but the Afrihost is capped>>>>>>>>>>>>> my point is the OPENWEB ACCOUNT should be running at 100 k/s as per advert not 25k/s.

Then at 4.30 in the morning i see speeds of around 80 to 90. If you asked me that is unfair or incorrect advertising. And BTW i been monitoring this for the past few weeks.

Please can someone tell me how to deal with these ISP's that rip people off.

You say you've been monitoring it for the past few weeks, but you only emailed support earlier today? If you put it with slower speeds for "weeks" then why didn't you contact support sooner then ? I highly doubt it's a case of ISPs ripping people off, yes all of us would like our accounts to run at full speed 99,9% of the time but to accuse OW of ripping you off, is a bit harsh.

Whenever I contact support I get a reply in less than 5 minutes 95%+ of the time by the CEO himself. This morning I also emailed support and in less than 2 minutes got a reply and my issue was resolved. Just take a deep breath and hear what support has to say and see if they can resolve the issue for you. I feel some people are too hasty to complain here on the forums before they haven't had an extensive discussion with support first.

If you're not satisfied at the end of the day, cancel your account and use an other ISP then.
 
This guy is clearly nothing more than a drama llama. One of those guys that has a single issue then wants to run to court.

I am very sorry if this has been blown out of proportion.

A few weeks ago i called your office to complain about the account. The technician infact could not trace the account. When i tried to logon to my openweb controll panel i could not and was told i do not have one. My old control panel user was ow1342. As you know there is a new panel now. Anyway i was told i am not registered. The tech guy then told me that no such account exists. I perssited and called him back. After a few weeks he said he is still looking for the account. Then he said i should not cancel the account but try it again.

Look at my history and see i have not used that account for a long time because of being tired of calling. Then admin said i need to give 1 months notice to cancel.

My response was ...why i been trying cancel for 2 months already.Anyway it seem ok now and i would like to apologise if i caused any hard feelings.maybe i should just delete the post so i wont be called a troll.

Hope my apologies are accepted Sir.

I've been very impressed lately with the IS news server. Brand new files less than an hour old are coming through at an average of 248 KB/s... my paid news server only barely tops that.
