Hi hereticangel,

Yes you can.

Vanilla allows for EFT, Credit card or debit order payments.

It also allows you to buy an account as a Once Off

Mrbeep Can you confirm the following please.

Can i buy a 1 month vanilla uncapped account At R179 for just the month of FEB with my credit card?

I was about to buy one of those Gamers/Downloaders 8Mb specials but now I see they have gone over the weekend. Have I lost out or is it still possible to sign up for this type of account?

Hey,

Does anyone have a vanilla account and play League of Legends? If so what kind ping do you get?

If not, Mr Beep would it be possible for me to get a 4 meg trial vanilla account?

You gotta be fast with those specials man - the "total accounts left" is not live!
MrBEEP told me they will still honor the special if it's advertised on the site though.

I signed up to OpenWeb BEFORE my ADSL line was installed, and waited for Telkom .... very risky, but it turned out to be the right choice, because the next day the special was gone! :D

No way! did the exact same thing! And would you believe it, I requested the new line from Telkom last week Tuesday, and it was installed, and is up and running, as of today. Can't wait to get home and fire up a game or two. It can only be better than the hellishly erratic 8ta 3G connection I've been (not) gaming on...

I haven't orderd yet, so it could be either.

well if you are going to get a 2Mbs line, why not get the 2Mbs Gold uncapped?
I mean, why are the choices 1Mbs Gold OR 2 Mbs vanilla - both of those choices aren't really ideal for a 2Mbs line.

I'd rather pay that extra R60 for Gold, than getting Vanilla.

I don't know how vanilla is though, I've only had Gold since the start.... maybe it will suit you fine. what are you going to use it for?

According to my calculations a 1mb gold will cost R542 per month with a 1mb line and a 2mb Vanilla on a 2mb line will be R696?
So cost will be the deciding factor, I will be using oit to dowload quite a bit from torrents and sabnzb plus youtube.

I was hoping to try out UnoTelly, but I think both options will be too slow for that.

Tough choice - it really depends on your budget.

But like I said, if you're willing to spend R700 on a 2Mbs Telkom line + Openweb 2Mbs uncapped, rather add that 60 bucks and get the Gold uncapped over vanilla.

ya but can you upgrade from one special to another?

Vanilla isnt a special and I don't think you can generally change an existing account to a special (I see Gold is on special).. I know that has been the case in the past where you can't change your regular priced account to a lower special account, you had to cancel the one and sign up for another.

Perhaps if you're upgrading (i.e. paying more) then MrBEEP will make the exception :D

Vanilla isnt a special...

Vanilla is indeed on special.

which is why I recomended to rather pay the extra 60 bucks from the start, because you generally can't upgrade from one special to another.
You suggested he get vanilla and then upgrade to Gold...

Vanilla is indeed on special.

No, it isnt :)

It's just on the home page because the prices were reduced. This is their new prices; existing Vanilla's will be moved to Standard or they can choose to stay on Vanilla at the lower price.

Trust me on this, I was PM'ing with MrBEEP last night as I'm an existing Vanilla

Fair enough, but the fact remains - you can't upgrade TO a Special.

Indeed - no arguments here, I just didn't realise he was referring to a gold special vs. vanilla.

Has anyone here used both Vanilla and Gold and can elaborate on what the noticeable differences are?

Any issues with connectivity at the moment. I can ping mweb.co.za but not cnn.com. The link tracerts shows mtn business connecting to Atlanta and then timing out from there?

I'm getting the same issue with Afrihost.
