Is this a congested exchange?

Doesn't look like it, but then a single traceroute will never be a perfect answer to that question. Best you can do is run multiple traceroutes when nothing else is utilising the line, if you get inconsistent times on the first hop after your router then a congested exchange could be a culprit. All that it really tells you is that something is not right with the connection from your router to the next piece of hardware down the line.

Flying again now at 5, but I emailed support earlier and they gave me a new account again, NNTP speeds were good after that but it never seems to last.

Hmm downloads running at 120ish kb/s (up and down) on 4mb gold uncapped. Anyone else having issues...?

I must say I'm very happy now with Openweb. My speeds are fantastic all around.

I'm getting that speed on an 8Mb Silver Uncapped (2 for 1 special) running over a 10Mbps DSL line.

Torrents and NNTP full speed. Great job guys.

Yup, after hours the silver uncapped are amazing. Generally not too bad during daytime either, certainly usable, albeit a little more shaped than some other accounts I've tried

I am also still happy. I am actually downloading a torrent tonight (Android ROM) and still limiting the speed to 350KB/s so I can browse nicely.

(off topic)

I've download a LOT of android roms since I got my silver uncaped  ;) But in all seriousness, is there a sensible place to find torrents for firmware? the standard http ones are too slow by far, even on openweb

Normally they list the torrent downloads on the developers page or on the xda thread. Don't know of a place where you can view them all though, if you do find a site like this let me know.

Omega's download page for the S3 has a torrent link. Much much faster than the http one.

@ MrBEEP (i presume)

I've had it with my friends from AH and need to move, however you don't offer trial runs on the packages.
I would like a 2Mbps Gold uncapped or similar package to try for a few days before I marry and give you an debit order.
Is it possible to be done?

Anybody on 1M silver uncapped outside Cape town getting more than 7KB/s on NNTP or is this a national thing?.

Hi gjfourie,

It seems like you have made it your mission to complain about OpenWeb services. It seems like you watch every byte of data as it enters your machine, and complains if it is not to your liking.

A shaped account will be shaped. We cannot offer you 24/7 unshaped access for the price of a shaped service. Once Telkom drops their wholesale IPC rates, we can revisit this, but i'm afraid somehow, the ISP must also make a living.

If you are experiencing sincere problems, kindly email [email protected] so that it can be resolved. Complaining about shaping on a shaped service will not change matters, as we will not unshape a shaped service when the network is busy, like it is currently.

I apologise if this is not to your liking.

I am not making it my mission to complain. I am just trying to figure out what the parameters are that the accounts should work in. Yesterday there was a problem as confirmed by you in western cape and also confirmed by other users. You have not supplied us with any feedback so it makes it a bit difficult to know if what I am getting is real or not. I understand shaping is needed and have no problem with it. But yesterday I, and others got low nntp speeds and you confirmed that there is a problem and that you reported it. Today it is the same. So what is it?

Last night I actually recommended Openweb to a user. If I am unhappy with Openweb, do you really think I would recommend Openweb.

I actually find your reply in bad taste. This is an open forum to supply feedback and get information from other users. I am sorry that the information I seek is not to your liking.

I pay for a service, if I want info then I will ask. If I get conflicting info then I will say so. If it sounds like I am complaining then so be it.

Feeling so loved as a client right now.
