THIS STILL WORKS

HOW DO YOU NOT TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THIS!!! AMAZING!

And to think that I was about to sign up to a subscription service of 10USD/month.

MrBeep, you now have - without a doubt - the single best service offered in the country.

(For the love of goodness, tell people about this:D)

Wow, didn't know about this either. Been using no-ip for a while which works great but nice knowing that this is an option too.

Does this work for you?

Doesn't resolve for my account.. this article is from 2006 as well.

Quite correct, hadn't had my coffee yet, forgot the router would block the requests :)

That is a pretty awesome service - as if there wasn't enough to like about Openweb already.

Yes it does work for me. You need to set your router to respond to WAN pings

Could someone please explain the benefit of that function?

So what does this do and how do I use it?

Important question: for those of us who have TWO concurrent connections, which would this resolve? is there any guarantee that it would always resolve a particular one?

It's in the article...
"Generally it is not advised to run more than 1 x ADSL line on a connection you wish to utilize for the purposes of hosting a server, as OpenWeb’s Static DNS server will update to the latest connected connection. e.g. Line 1 connects at 16:00 ; Line 2 connects at 16:15 – Line 2′s IP will point the the clients Static DNS Subdomain."

Because I specifically require an account that allows me to stream Netflix and Hulu+ as this is my primary source of entertainment after giving up DSTV. I require an account that will not give me issues with streaming and no buffering. The uncapped gold seems to be the only account that will work for my requirements.

Openweb seems to constantly have some kind of special going. I'm sure if you get to the end of the month, there will be something that you can use. Just keep an eye open for what they have on offer. If not, then it will be Openweb's loss.

Hello MrBeep

Unfortunately i had to cancel my "Gamers Delight, Downloaders Right" package.

As i have been without a ADSL Line since January - I attempted to stay with OW - just seems I am paying for nothing (just wanted to keep that account) :P.

I will again signup with OW in the future.. hopefully sooner than later... lets just hope by then i can get a equivalent account to what i had...

So I signed up with Openweb and have been on the Gold Uncapped Special account since the beginning of the month. This far I can only say positive things about the account. The line has been running full speed on all protocols the entire weekend. I had no problems streaming youtube while having torrents and/or newsservers running at the same time (something that was not possible on my old MWeb account). Will have to see how the account performs during the week but this far I am really happy and can only recommend this package.

We look forward to welcoming you back :)

Hi Mr Beep

I sent an email to support guys regarding the trial account you gave me that is not working. I have not had any feedback as yet.

Please advise.

Thanks

I tested the Silver account and I think it's at least equal to or superior to MWEB's premium uncapped.

Only thing which holds me back is that MWEB offers all-in-one solution for line rental and ADSL, and I have a grandfathered mweb email account I need. If I get booted off MWEB, I may go to OW and keep MWEB mail hosting and then change line to Telkom.
But hopefully I won't get booted off as I don't download more than 70-140GB/mo on 4Mbit, and never 24/7.

Ditto for me.
