Hey Budza,

I'm afraid this is very difficult to predict. From my experience, some exchanges need a reset ALOT more often than others. What we do see often is:

* Older exchanges tend to give more trouble
* Over the last year, we have seen many many more congested exchanges than ever before

We believe Telkom upgraded client speeds without upgrading their exchanges, which is causing a myriad of problems.

My exchange probably is old. I'm not convince though, as other accounts seem to work OK without resetting the port.

I'll test again next time this happens and provide some results for you.

On a side note, I'm on an exchange that supports 10Mbps, so it's not that old...

Hi Budza,

Based on your tracert, this was not an account related fault, but rather a line / port / router related fault, as explained yesterday.

Right now there is a network issue causing slow speeds and browsing.

One thing I will put hugely in OpenWebs favour is support.

Afrihost having authentication issues in Gauteng this morning. I emailed them early this AM to find out what is going on and not had a response yet. Afrihost uncapped thread is starting to fill up with this auth issue.

I PM'd MrBEEP just minutes ago about my slow speeds on OW and am already getting assistance to sort it out. Big points!
Emailing OW support however begs for improvement. They respond - but not helpful.

Network Notice: There is currently a fault affecting some clients where browsing is extremely slow. The fault started at around 07:30am. Engineers are attending.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Is news affected as well? Currently dirt slow on Gold Uncapped?

Not to be funny but usage stats such as these does not indicate throttling IMHO. Im only in my second month of using OW but I can honestly say I have none of the issues I had with MWEB an AH a few years ago.

EDIT: I am on a 1 Mbps line

Is the issue with IS / Seacom / Openweb? Has the fault been announced/reported anywhere else?

Does it affect YouTube as well?

Thanks

It will affect all traffic.

Engineers are attending, and we are hoping for a resolution in the next 90 minutes

Ah, yes. Cheers.

Doesn't actually look too bad for a 1MB line.

EDIT: No throttling either. Telkom problems with the exchange are the frustration at this stage :(
