Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

I get 8mb local, and only 3mb international. Constant packet loss. Telkom account has no packet loss.

Hoping they fix it, because I'm not paying for 10mb unshaped if I'm only going to get 3mb.

I said I was paraphrasing:
Original text "If the IS network does not suit your needs, please mail me: [email protected] so that I can move you"
I.e. in my case "If you are not happy with having no internet at all, email me"
Did that. 4 times already. Moved me 4 times. Still refuse to move me anywhere that gives me decent speeds for more than a day.

I thought the problem was with my line but my capped data with my other DSL provider gives me full download speed. Also if the problem is with my line, how do you account for the fact that I get a speed boost each time I email but that it only lasts a day and then I have to email again and get another speed boost for the next day then I have to email again and get another speed boost...

No, I don't think the fault is with my line. I honestly couldn't care if they are rated the best ISP every single month for 10 years running. The fact of the matter is I am paying full price for a product and getting 0.03% - 0.4% of what I am paying for. Stats and rating don't mean anything when compared to that simple fact.

Ever maybe considered that like half the country there is an issue with your exchange? I've been with Openweb for more than 2 years and have had nothing but good service from them. How many companies do you know of that you can directly mail the CEO and have your query attended to personally. Before you go bad mouthing someone or a company rather investigate all avenues. . The mere fact that you say "I don't think its my line thats at fault means you clearly haven't looked at all the factors. I get perfect latency on my line and decent speeds all day til 7:30PM then all goes out the window. Why is that? because our local exchange is congested...so...rather take the time to do some research.

Best solution I have with any ISP is to have two, while the one is having some problems use the 2nd account. Both WA and OW sort stuff out, some just take longer than others and some are better for a particular use. Like WA for gaming and OW-uncapped for the rest, not that OW isn't usable. I just like the low latencies that's all.

anyone been shaped through their ass 24/7 for the pass few days?

I was being, but after submitting a support ticket my problem was resolved almost immediately and my line is working fine again here. For me it was fine on the weekend and then when monday hit it just got bad thought I would wait it out, on wednesday tested with another account and it worked fine so submitted a ticket and got a new account almost immediately, really good service and nothing to complain about from me.

i put in a ticket was told to deal with it

Have you clearly eliminated other factors such as your line, router, network exct.? Through I do have issues believing that they told you to deal with it... I could be wrong, could also be a overall network problem as their have been more complaints than usual this month, I have been on openweb uncapped gold for about a year now and they are hands down the best uncapped service around unless perhaps you are willing to pay for a premium unshaped account.

Im running a 1mb uncapped gold, my line is fine tested a WA account on it, its basically the p2p direct downloads iv been trying to get new software and update windows the speeds are just around about 10 - 15kb/s i don't mind shaping but being shaped 24/7 for around 3 - 4 days is making it impossible to get some things done.

i should maybe rephrase the part about "deal with it" basically i told them what i have told you and that and i know shaping happens but 24/7? they just said nothing is wrong with your account shaping happens whenever there are busy periods on the network. but 24/7 is the thing im concerned about.

there is no doubt OW is awesome service is great but passed few days has just been annoying me :) maybe im just being picky and it will sort itself out in time.

Yeah I am beginning to think thier is some problem with the network {or maybe SAT 3, Seacom} as my second account I got is now also getting slower and slower, must agree for me it was fine till Sunday then it got worse and worse, well will just have to wait and see they have provided me a great service for about a year so I don't mind giving them the benifit of the doubt for the month, if p2p speeds are still crawling along in december will look into what other options are available.

Something is definitely broken somewhere....either that or we're being shaped to hell and back. The new VB account that Keoma gave me on Tuesday was running fine until yesterday afternoon when it suddenly went back to below 20KB/s (I'm a 1MB Gold subscriber). :(

I have no issues with getting way below average speeds on downloads during most of the day but after 10/11 PM I kinda expect things to improve significantly.

I too have nothing but good things to say about my experience with Openwebs service but I too would have to consider other alternatives if my Gold Account doesn't get back to where it used to be in the past.

I must concur, there is something very broken with VB at the moment. Hope it comes right tomorrow - good thing I got my 11 gigs from Afrihost today.

Hmm weird. My VB is actually coming along nicely at the moment.
I'm experiencing some week-shaping - http and ftp is slow during the week (single connections ie youtube/downloads), but it's really lovely today.

Everything seems back to normal now, I wonder what broke.

This is how the traceroute should look:

Not having the browsing issue but youtube is pretty much fked. Then again i tried my axxess account and it was even worse.

I just noticed the OpenWeb Gold Uncapped pages say nothing about how many concurrent connections you're allowed to have. I'm assuming it should be only one, right?
