Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

Just a question, is Altech performance the same as IS accounts on Gold? I was on VB, awesome until no PAP authentication happened, and then changed over to Altech. I note it's "unstable" compared to VB, yet runs full speed "after hours". Would it not run the same as VB, consistent any time of the day?

Sorry to reply so late after your message. I've tried again. It is still the same. Perfect on Afrihost. Errors on Altech.

EDIT: When I try using a YT downloader it gives an error of "Too many automatic redirects" which is probably the same problem that is happening inside the browser's flash app since both pull the video streams from the same source. Originally I thought it was problem on YouTube's servers, but then why does it work fine via a proxy or on a different ISP?

Had the same problems, eventually it degraded into me not even getting full download speeds during the night. Getting 40 kbps atm (on 1 meg).... Everything started to go to hell when they started those super cheap uncapped promos. I was stupid enough to buy a gold, still don't know what the advantage is.

Yeah will just have to wait and see, I have been with gold uncapped for about a year and it's never even come close to being this bad before, but I do see a lot of other ISP users are complaining too, so maybe their is some big problem we are unaware of, will suffer through to end of month and then re-evaluate my options. Through I must add today I got home around four and for the first time this week international sites loaded perfectly and it felt like old times again {for the last while it's usually been around 22:00 that this happens}, tried to download something just to test and that didn't go well but I don't really mind as long as I can surf in the day/evening and download at night.
 
I have no complaints, my uncapped 4m gold has been running extremely well the past two weeks. Getting full speed on NNTP, streaming is running smoothly and online gaming is also perfect. :)
 
The advantage is great service, reliability and fast internet. I have been using Gold sincew its launch and it is the best product on the market today
 
I am now being shaped on the 1mb Lite option it seems. Downloads are at less than 5kb/s I have used less than 9gb this month. This is getting really frustrating.
 
It seems that I am being shaped after using 8GB of bandwidth. I really find it hard to believe that I can be in the top 20% after using that amount. I am really disappointed.
 
Get Gold. Why on earth are you using the IS Lite nonsense?? That's your own fault dude.

Lite is advertised as uncapped and unshaped except for the top 20% of users. Before I could choose it, I called Openweb where I was informed that as long as I do not reach 40GB/month I will be fine.

Gold is a shaped service. MY understanding would be that Lite would be quicker than Gold for gaming as it is unshaped. Am I mistaken in this belief?

Remember that these accounts gauge usage based on a 10 day rolling window period.
 
My VB a/c has been performing exceptionally the past 2 weeks.Speeds have never dropped below 400 KB/s.Thks Mr Beep
