My debit order for this month still hasn't been deducted. I assumed it would have happened today, seeing as the first and second were holidays. Anybody else not have theirs deducted yet?

I don't want to get blacklisted. :P

Unfortunately the debit order run was delayed by the public holidays. It should go off tonight or tomorrow.

I apologize for the inconvenience

Ah okay. Didn't really inconvenience me, I was just a bit curious. :P

It is an inconvenience to me. Here I go telling everyone that Openweb gives Christmas presents :D

Any reason why IS is slow on torrents all of the sudden. I thought it was just a small problem last night but now the exact same thing is happening. Im getting only 40 to 45 kb download atm on a 1mb line (9:30pm)?

Hi all

My Telkom ADSL has been down for the last 3 sodding days. Brilliant timing to ruin my leave. Tried logging a fault through their web site which has gone unanswered (no shocks there). Any tips for ways of contacting them that will actually bloody work?

I once copied the following from a post in this forum, for in case I ever needed it. Perhaps it may help you:

... contact Telkom on 0800 375 375 and go through to the DSL Technical Support department. (Do not attempt any other department, as you will be greeted by general incompetence).

Thanks, Sammy. That number has been changed and now redirects to the Telkom Online call centre. Got a fairly polite agent who unfortunately had no clue what I was talking about! :-) Guess I just have to wait it out. Annoying.

Muggins try 10215 it is the new number when you have problems or want to change something regarding your ADSL. Just listen carefully for the options menu

i logged a call in the evening (after hours) with 10215 (they close after 19h00 iirc) and gave my cell nuber as refrence. Next day technician called and my line was fixed that day. Couldn't believe it.

Ever since Telkom discontinued their dedictaed call centre number 0800 375 375, we have to deal with a bunch of incompetent monkeys. I have better chance of my security gate understanding my problem better than these idiots. I once received good service from 10210 and that was when I cancelled one of my lines

The 10210 number has people that can only do basic trouble shooting. Switch off your router and reset you port. Not sure they can apply anything beyond that. If that does not work, they will book a techie for you.

MrBEEP, are you able to supply test accounts for the 4mb Gold Uncapped option? I'm thinking on moving from MWEB.

Anyone else getting poor download speeds on all filehost sites? ie. Rapidshare, Megaupload, Oron etc. They all download @ 50-60kbps since the 1st January this year (1mb account). Prior to that, I was consistently getting 110kbps on any of these filehost sites.
Youtube, Vimeo and most general sites are still going at 110kbps. It's only the 'popular' filehosting sites that seem to be throttled to half the capable speed.

I was on an IS account and after submitting a complaint, was moved to dslheaven which is running identically. Have not tried torrents as I have no need for that. Cannot try nntp because I was using the IS usenet service and am now on dslheaven. Submitted another complaint yesterday evening and still awaiting a response.

@subxero

Take a look at the limitations of the accounts... p2p and filehosting sites are shaped as to the liking of the provider, in this case DSL-heaven. I quickly took a look and mine's shaped as well.

Just got a mail from Openweb confirming what you said.
"Unfortunately downloads from sites like Rapidshare and filesonic etc will definitely be shaped to some degree which would account for the diminished speeds you’re experiencing when downloading from sites of this nature. P2P connections will also be subject to shaping.
Typically from mid-December internet usage tapers off and that would be a contributing factor to you enjoying faster download speeds last month."

Ive been on silver uncapped for two months now and im very happy with the product and service thanks Openweb!

So which in your opinion is better? IS or DSLHeaven? At least with IS I could use their NNTP server.
