Happened to me too a few months back, turned out to be Astraweb. I changed to Newsdemon and that fixed it.

An odd thing is with VB in the last month i was repairing every single file, since i moved to dsl heaven i have not repair one file.
Odd how that works, i wonder wtf is going. I was using newsdemon so i don't think the news provider is the problem.

which one would you choose...OPENWEB or TELKOM ( UNCAPPED vs CAPPED)...I need to make a decent decision before the end of the month as I'm leaving WA...

Still having issues with my VB account. It worked fine when I tried it at the parents' house over the weekend, but at my flat it's as dead as it comes. Network diagnostics points towards a DNS error, but it can't be on my side because I used the laptop that I just tried with at my parents over the weekend.
Have submitted a support ticket again, but has anybody encountered something like this before?

If you connect via an ADSL Modem, try a "reset" of the router...thats all i can think of ( unless you and your parents share a different "exchange" from Telkom )
Go to command prompt and do a "tracert google.co.za".....without the ""
..see if you get any **....you will also see the latency ( ping time )

Well if you're going with OW, and can afford a Gold account, I'd say it's worth it. If the one backbone doesn't suit your needs, simply move to another. If you're with Telkom, you're basically stuck with them and have no options to go to a different backbone if an issue arises.

Yeah, me and my parents live about 70km apart, so we should be on different exchanges.
Thing is,my network connection tells me I'm connected to the network, but there's no internet access on the network. Will try a tracert anyway, and I'll also switch my router off for an hour and see if that helps anything.
What's just weird is that it was working perfectly up until Thursday evening, when it suddenly stopped working.
