Did anyone else also get an email with the subject "Save up to a R100 a month on Gold Uncapped"

And the body of the email:

"Hi

Thanks for being a loyal email subscriber. We appreciate hearing from you. Let us know if you ever have any questions."

I almost got excited and thought that I would pay R100 a month less now because I'm a loyal subscriber, but doesn't appear to be the case. :(

Same here.

Ok Telkom just recreated my port, lets hope that works.

Thanks for the help Keoma. :)

Hi. Anyone else on the webafrica backbone having issues today? Was running slow yesterday now its almost unusable today. Speedtest.net won't even load. Most pages just time out, local and international sites.

Mine is also completely dead.

I personally wouldn't use the WA backbone. It's good when it works, but with the amount of issues they have, just no.

I'm actually surprised with the performance I've been getting on the IS backbone - full speed most of the time on NNTP and HTTP, and pretty decent performance on Xbox Live.

Exactly the opposite for me. The DSL-H backbone is perfect for everything for me personally. I get more than full line speed with NNTP, IS account with NNTP runs only about 75% of line speed. So I won't say it's good to tell people they must avoid this or that backbone. Let them test what works best, because obviously people are going to have different experiences per backbone :)

I did say "personally" :p

Thanks. Gonna contact support then. Out of all the backbones Vodacoms one seems to have worked the best for me. I avoid IS where possible, tried it a few times and always ended up with problems.

Used to be the same for me too, but lately VB has been acting up for me. Contacted MrBEEP on Monday and he gave me an IS account (*@mynetwork.co.za) which has been running at full speed. If this one starts acting up then I'll request a transfer back to VB, but for now it's fine :)

I signed up for a Gold account but got one that had @openweb.co.za Aren't these the standard uncapped accounts? As I understand it Gold accounts have @is or @vb etc?

I thought the same once, after I asked - that is not not the case, you can have a Gold or Standard etc. with the @openweb.co.za (or the others for the matter too - I would assume) as it is a setting they have on the account profile (or whatever it is called) tied to the full username that determines what quality of service (ie gold/silver/standard/lite etc) that you are on.
