Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

Hi MrBEEP,

I've sent a mail to support requesting my gold account be upgraded to 2 meg but have not received a response yet. Please assist, thanks.

Hi Mooler

Have you emailed [email protected] with the query?

Has anyone else in Cape Town been having issues with their IS Openweb Gold account lately?

Browsing during the day is pretty bad. Images take minutes to load and YouTube just doesn't work at all. And it only starts improving at around 5pm.

On a 4mb line:

Trying to. Will do so as soon as Gmail manages to load.

Edit:
I've mailed support. Waiting for a reply.

I had MrBeep bump me to 6Mbps on Monday evening and it is absolutely rocketing. I got a pretty constant 730+KB/s on torrents, which is just under 6mbps speeds. I find this a bit weird because I was under the impression that I have been bumped to only 6mbps by Telkom, but maybe they've adjusted that since implementation of their new networking gear. Local latency sits at around 18ms on Speedtest. Unfortunately my ADSL modem seems to be a tad unhealthy after many years of service, and it doesn't respond to pings nor does the web interface work. It still manages to sync and allow PPPoE connections, however, so it's still fine. I can't seem to find just ADSL modems after a quick look though, so replacing it will probably be a pain.

Currently super impressed with my Openweb account.

Is DSL Heaven on a 196 ip? And does it show up as Open Web on speed test?

From what I recall when I still had a DSLH account, the IP range was 41. and said Webafrica. BUT I think it might have also changed to IS now, MrBeep is the only one that can confirm.

Our interwebs are broken. No browsing, no mail. Wonder what the problem could be?

Hey Friends,

A Telkom cable break is causing issues for some of our clients. The problems are intermittent and quite scattered. Top level engineers are working on the issue. We apologise!

Thanks MrBEEP,

Seems to be back online now.

Thanks

Once again big thumbs up to OpenWeb, had a 1Mb uncapped account asked them to change to their sweet 2Mb Gold Uncapped deal at R299 and still keep my IS Backbone and all was done quick quick with absolutely no hassles.
New account will be up on Saturday :)
No longer dealing directly with Keoma but the guys are keeping his standard up :D
Happy customer over here.

Were you on 1mb gold and switched over to 2mb Gold at their current special price?

Dunno what you guys at OpenWeb did, but don't you dare change a thing. My daytime browsing speeds have increased dramatically. I can even stream 720p YouTube videos now :D
