Mail the author or IT Web and ask. Perhaps explain that some of the issues MS lied about are still not resolved. I read the MS response on the article and it seemed very trite. Mr Press obviously doesn't give a carp about the 85000 XBOX consoles sold in SA. Either that, or he's just extremely misinformed. There's STILL a backlog. There are still delays in MID responses.

And again, say HELLO to PETER. Seriously. Flood it. Log complaints. Log one every day until they get back to you themselves and facilitiate the process personally. INSIST. Don't come onto this forum and complain about something we already know. Tell Microsoft. If you want to see consumer action, then take the fight to them. Hit them hard, hit them constantly. You attack with the heavy and constant artillery fire of your customer-complaint cannon, not the guerilla pew-pew of forum trash-talk!

1. Go to www.xbox.com and follow the instructions to contact the XBOX helpdesk.
2. Get a reference number.
3. Find your proof of purchase.
4. Download the claim form: http://www.midigital.co.za/images/xbox_procedure.pdf
5. Complete it.
6. Attach the PoP.
7. Fax it to 0861 XBOX36. Yes, I know they think it's 0861 XBOX360, but they've obviously never heard of the 10-digit phone number thing.
8. For good measure, scan in your claim form and your PoP and e-mail it to [email protected]
9. For extra good measure, try to phone them on 0861 XBOX36 to confirm receipt.
10. Wait 72 hours.
11. Log a Hello Peter complaint against Microsoft and tell them MID is not responding.
12. Wait 24 hours.
13. Log another Hello Peter complaint against Microsoft and tell them MID is still not responding and that you would like someone from Microsoft to contact you directly and personally facilitate your replacement process with MID. Do NOT let them refer you to MID. Do NOT let them tell you that MID will call you shortly. If that is their response, log another Hello Peter complaint. You can also call the Microsoft customer response management help-line, found on the Microsoft SA site, but I prefer Hello Peter due to its public nature.
14. When the person from Microsoft contacts you, get an email address.
15. When MI Digital contacts you, get the rep's direct email address.
16. Summarise your conversation with the MID rep on email and mail it to the MID rep for confirmation and copy Microsoft.
17. When you follow up with MID, copy Microsoft - every time.

MI Digital Closes Down

MI Digital (MID) has closed down. At first it looked like they may have changed names or been bought out, but now multiple sources have confirmed to Do Gaming that the distributor is no more.

A statement from Microsoft reads, “Xbox 360 in SA have confirmed that MiD’s Holding Company went into liquidation this morning. Xbox in SA is currently looking for a transition solution but can assure retailers and consumers that this situation will not interrupt the supply of Xbox 360 consoles and games to the market. As soon as we have confirmed the way forward we will inform the media.”

MID distributed XBoxes in South Africa as well as games like Gears of War, Fable II, Lips and Scene It.

One source says they have been in trouble for some time and them closing comes as no surprise. However it is not known how an organisation distributing such strong titles and one of the console platforms was not able to make a success of it in the market.

It is not known to date what will happen with Xbox repairs as these were handled by MID as well.

OMG hope i still get my replacement, spoke to Microsnot today and I got like a stack of reference numbers and names and they told me they'll get back to me mmmm, MID i hate you ..... microsoft you getting close to hate status,... they told me they gonna call me back in 48 hours MS that is :( wonder if that'll happen ???? I don't wana wait like another month or something.. surely Microsoft needs to make up for this crap ...

Sorry for my ranting and raving but I am at straws end. Why does a multi billion dollar company like MS not use their brains, I mean how many xboxes where sold in south africa and STILL no LIVE for us, we have to go via another country with setting coz MS doesn't give a s**t about south africa and to top it off our machines are of such a superior quality they run out of replacements coz these things are dying left right and centre from 2006 till now, omg can't they get it right??? to flog of ur stuff and stuff service...

Service no longer works here, or actually nobody works here...

Actually, blame our ****ty internet for the lack of LIVE service here. It's just not financially viable for MS to invest in that sort of installation and support infrastructure, only to have to field complaints from angry customers on 64k dialup.

Frankly, if I were in charge of the LIVE division, I wouldn't bring the service to SA either.

Personally, I'm not especially bothered about the lack of local LIVE support since it uses P2P connections and I only game online with friends, but the region blocking on some content (e.g. Gears of War DLC) pisses me off. Why should we have to put up with Germany's ridiculous censorship laws? This isn't ****ing Germany.

Well, I guess this is a case study for how bad customer service can ruin your business...

Maybe MS will suck up their ego and let someone like Megarom or ComZtek do the distribution for them. And hopefully Megarom or ComZtek will leave the swop-out and repair process in the hands of Microsoft. I mean, 85,000 XBOXes sold in SA and that doesn't constitute enough units sold for a local service centre or even XBOX LIVE for that matter? Ptooey!

ZZZzzzZZZzzzz bah bah, generic response.

Tell them you've been waiting forever, received crap service, phoned a million times and have now been informed of Mi Digital going bye bye (meaning that all their promises were also fake). Simple conclusion: Tell them no more stories you want a NEW one NOW. That's what I did with Nintendo and it worked better since I got some free stuff too.
 
followed up on Microsoft and they say not to worry they busy getting someone to facilitate in the meanwhile until they get a new useless ZA partner .... microsoft sux man, lol'ed at the xbox 360 hate songs on youtube regarding service and the RROD
