[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Is Hisense ever going to bring out a OLED panel?

Is the U9 the top of the line but has no Dolby Vision?
We'll find out soon, as Hisense's first OLED TV has now made its way to UK and Europe. Previously retailing as the Series X in Australia, the H55O8BBUK should have the deep blacks and rich color gamut we've come to expect from OLED TVs, with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision to boot.

Retailing at (around $2,000 / AU$2,900), it's around the cost of last year's LG B8 OLED, and will be one of the cheapest ways to get an OLED panel in your home. See what we thought in our Hisense OB8 OLED TV review

Anyone have a link to the 58A6100UW firmware? Can I use the 55A6100 firmware?

The U9A is a 2018 model TV. It WAS the flagship. Hisense has been really poor with their marketing.

The B8000 is the successor or should be to the U8A, and would probably be the H8F american version.

The Q8600 is the new flagship with full array local dimming, 132 zones, 120Hz refresh rate native panel, HDR10&Dolby Vision and HMDI 2.0 across all 4 HDMI inputs. This is the successor to the U9A and is the american H9F equivalent.

However Hisense refuses to acknowledge this or the local representatives just don't know!

It looks like there may be a product shift coming soon as they are dumping panel prices at the retailers.

Will give them til Black Friday....

I have the Hisense 50A6100UW, I have downloaded the update from hisense.co.za/software - so it downloads as a Bin file. According to hisense website,it says I have to extract the file to a .pkg file before putting it onto a USB stick. I have downloaded many programs now to try extract that file! Nothing works. How the hell do I update this crap tv?
The only link that matches with the version I have is down. Cyberstorm with his 3 points; the link to the the 3rd one is down.

Good day everybody can someone please help me with the latest firmware for VA001.01.00a.I0712.

So tired of resetting netflix, i am also using dstv now and showmax. So if there is any issues with them after fixing Netflix please provide me with a fix for that aswel. Thanks

Quick Update: So I managed to get into the Service Menu:-

Settings -> Sound -> Advanced Audio -> Make Sure Balance is on "0" (Centered) -> type in 1969 and then you will get a Green M on top left hand corner. Use the menu as with normal menu. I managed to increase the volume slightly. Few settings I didn't play with as I don't understand them and do not want to really mess things up.

Anyway, after accessing this menus (and not changing much besides the sound), I switched the TV off. A while later for some stupid unknown reason, the original remote works again, and now Netflix just works, I do not have to keep resetting it. Don't ask me how, I am mind boggled as well.

Yup this works on all Hisenses from what I can tell. The service menu that is.

I switched on my TV this morning and it asked if it can do an OTA upgrade. o_O
It downloaded and installed, have not tested it yet.

Does the South African firmware for 55M7000UWG have HDR enabled yet? I switched to the UK firmware back in jan to get it to work

So I bought a Hisense tv a few weeks ago and it's great, I'm loving it. Only one thing that's bothering me, the dynamic backlight. There's no way to switch it completely off.

When I set it to off it still auto dims the backlight when there's a dark scene on the tv making it impossible to see anything. So first question, is there any trick to counteract this auto-dimming - I have every other auto/dynamic setting switched off.

Second question, does it void the warranty to access the service menu? because I'm pretty sure there are some min and max backlight settings there, so I can set the minimum to say 60% so that it doesn't dim all the way down.

The tv model is - 65b7100

How would they know?

I was looking it up online and read somewhere there's some tracker built in so they can check if and how many times the service menu's been accessed.

Although I'm not sure if Hisense does this and for which models.

Claim ignorance :-). I've accessed mine tons of times though I've not sent it in for warranty.

Good day gents

Looking at upgrading from our old 43" LCD TV sometime in the near future.

Currently it's used for Netflix via an Intel NUC and we have a PS4 Slim connected to it.

We sit about 4.5 meters away from the TV. Is a 55" panel enough of an upgrade or should I rather push for something bigger like a 58" or 65" model? Also, since we use a HTPC on it for most of our content, do we really need a Smart TV or is it a gimmick and can I save the R1000 and go for a 'dumb' TV instead?

 Might as well then, have you ever played around with the backlight/similar settings, could it damage the set to change the defaults? The video I saw showed values for min, 20, medium, 80 and max, so I'm thinking of changing all the defaults to 60 let's say.
