[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Hisense 55K3300UW

My uncle purchased a TV about 4 years ago and has recently had fibre installed, everything else works great. Except for the lack of live sport.

Does anybody know if this particular TV supports Dstv now? It uses the Opera TV Store and has Netflix, ShowMax, YouTube and has the opera browser installed. IMG_20200202_153908.jpeg

Anyone getting weird anomalies while watching 4k HDR content from a flash drive? These come up every now and again but on one of the episode of Planet Earth 2 where the camera pans out over the ocean the entire picture went very blocky.
I think this is caused by SMR(smooth motion rate) trying to add frames where there are no frames to give the illusion of a smoother motion/higher frame rate. Your options are to switch the feature off in your picture settings and watch the movie like it was intended to play or play content that was recorded at 60 FPS.

Hi Sudo.

DSTV now app only rolled out to Hisense tvs in December 2018.
If it is not available in the app store of the TV, i doubt it will be ever available.
You could try updating the TV as a start.
If that doesn't work maybe give Hisense a call, or else your only alternative is to buy a media box like the mibox.

Hi there I've been in contact with the Hisense rep and he confirmed it is not supported on this model, thanks for the additional info bro I appreciate that.

But look I'm not one to leave people in a lurch, his problem isn't DSTV Now per se, he wants to be able to watch sport live. I know there are various methods but I'd prefer to find a solution here as you guys understand his circumstances already. If I've interpreted the thread correctly then am I to understand that the TV's before 2018 do not support Android?

Hi Sudo.
Obviously getting DSTV through cable is out.
If you don't want to go the media box option.
You can use your phone and cast to the TV using anytime cast?
Live NetTV and Redbox TV are decent for sports.
I know Live NetTV has some supersport channels.
If I`m not mistaken this specific model of this TV has opera software, I`m just not 100 percent sure about the apps on it.

I'm not sure what you mean by TVs before 2018 do not support android?
Hisense have specific models that use android TV, you cant "load" android TV to your current TV, if Ive interpreted your statement correctly.

You basically have two options for live sports TV:
You cast from your phone or get a media box, there is no other way around it unfortunately.
Personally id get a media box, Ive got one (mibox - android operating system) for all my overseas sports that doesn't show on DSTV now and works pretty well. The quality is not HD on some of the channels but it is definitely watchable.

Spoke with him today, I told him to sell his decoders and dish, he won't need them for sport, I'm going with him to select a media box (XIaomi Mi Box), install and load DSTV Now and a few other apps on there for him.

Thanks for you input.

Has anybody had the Dolby vision logo appear when watching Netflix DV content on the B8000 or Q8600? I'm yet to see it, ever... some have reported that it appears when they play USB content, but I haven't come across people who say that with Netflix content? Anyone?

Anyone using plex with one of their UHD Smart TVs or the model B8000. I use plex a fair bit so just checking if it works ok?

I have seen it with the B8000

I recently bought a 49B5200PT TV for the gym so that my significant other could view her exercise videos from a flash drive. I chose the 49B85200PT as I did not need a smart TV and the content of the exercise videos are all 720P max. The issue I have is some of the exercise videos formats are not supported or the video plays but I get an error message saying the audio format is not supported.
A firmware update should fix these issues but I cannot find a firmware download for the 49B5200PT. Current firmware is 49.V0001.E5100.EN.01.01.J0813. Can anyone provide me with a link from which I can download a firmware update?

Hi All, so I bought the Hisense 50" Smart Android UHD TV with Dolby Vision HDR and Bluetooth. I'm trying to cast from my Windows 10 PC that is on the network to this Screen. But I can't find the device in Windows 10. Anyone else had any luck with this, I was able to Pair to my Iphone using Google Home app, but I an only change the volume of the TV using the app.

Howsit, Howsit42. I'm assuming that you are referring to *.avi video formats. Most TVs, including many smart TVs don't play many *.avi formats. It has to do with the encoding of the file itself. I own the Q8600 and many of my .avi videos cannot be play. Samsung has this issue too. To get around it, try and download a free video formatter (there are many available on the internet) and try and change the format of the gym video to a. Mp4, this will sort the issue out

The laptop doesn't cast the same way as google chromecast. Use an HDMI cable to connect your laptop to the TV.
Certain apps can be case from your phone to the Android TV (DStv, netflix, youtube etc. you will see the cast icon in the app)... Also, download the official Android TV remote control for android TV from the play-store. It will enable your phone to act like a remote.
