There is a difference between Telkom line provider & Telkom ISP people.

This thread is to find out how Telkom performs as your ISP, not to moan if your line is broken coz "the lines were stolen" etc...

I am none the wiser if i should be getting more from Telkom but so far so good with what I have.

They are helpful when you get some on the phone who understands the problem you are having.

A one stage I would have loved them to convert my local gigs to international but now with 20gigs at my disposal, I end up giving back to them.

Agree with the last line. Would like to see telkom/8ta merge.

Performance: Good @ 10Mbps, latency don't notice (not a gamer)
Support: Good whenever I have called which is not often
Value for money: Getting better all the time (20GB cap, which i have never reached even when back on 10GB)
Overall satisfaction: High

Performance - Appalling. The latency/response time to locally hosted websites exceeds 500ms. Problem has been reoccurring since December 2011.

Support - Call centre consultants are usually friendly and want to help, but they can only reset your port or forward the problem to a technical department. In my case the problem is equipment in the exchange and support calls are ignored. Technicians refuse to call back despite several requests.

Value for money- Appalling. Paying R1000 p/m for line rental and 50GB monthly data allowance. At the moment this line is also unusable from 6pm - 1:00am.

Overall satisfaction- Extremely dissatisfied.

The speed is fluctuating. One needs to be in a situation wher eyou can say this is the speed I am getting from Telkom - right throughout the working day, no peaks and lo lows.

I have the 4mb line with the 20 gigs a month, which is a good price, i dont download more than 20 gigs anyway.

Performance (speed and latency): I sometimes feel i am getting throttled, at times, download speed is slower than the 384 line i dont download anything during the day, only start when i get home around 6pm
Support: Good when I need them they are efficient
Value for money: on do3 20 gig account and it is value for money
Overall satisfaction: Not very satisfied price wise i am fine with, but i dont get what i pay for.

Please also tell us how Telkom Internet can improve to make you a happier customer?
ensure that i get consistant download speeds, get rid of the local bundle, it only comes into affect if a user has finished their international bandwidth, rather increase overall bandwidth.
Or ensure that local site browsing and downloads actaully get taken off the local cap, and international browsing and download get taken off the international cap

Have a telkom1meg uncapped package, speed and latancy is good in my area, value for money could be cheaper but news servers is awesome, support is well below avarage. Overall satisfaction is good. They should just improve there service desk to answer calls more quickly and not let a costumer hold on for 30 plus minutes.

Performance - very good. sync at 10mb without any hassles.
Support - good. whenever I have had problems, the issue has been resolved immediately.
Value for money - could be a bit cheaper, but the 10mb line makes it worth it.
Overall satisfaction - high

Performance - fairly decent speed, especially considering the 384k line, latency not bad, although the extent of my gaming is only something like angry birds on FB!
Depending on the day & time of day, video watching is fairly smooth, but mostly I have to wait for a large amount of the buffer to download before attempting to watch, otherwise there are a lot of breaks :(
Streaming is a no go for me - not sure if that's an ISP thing or a line speed thing??

Support is pretty decent once you get through to the consultants - although it can be a long wait at times.....
Value for money is quite good for the do broadband packages - especially now with the Cap increases!

Places to improve: 1) time lag to consultants should be reduced in the event of support requirements.
2) would be great if line speeds for the packages could be increased like they've done with the cap's - make value for money even greater!

Overall - quite a satisfied customer.

Get the line rental down or gone. Else very happy with 10Mbps, mostly hovers around 8-9.5 but not gonna complain. Service has been pretty good over the last 2 years with issues sorted out quickly.

I am happy with telkom isp at the moment, my only problem is that I struggle to download files that are big, it stops downloading about three quarters of the way and then I don't want to download again as all the other mb's were wasted and afraid that it will happen again

Download manager?

I use the TelkomInternet 1GB 384kbps from Telkom.

I would say the speed is good 38 - 40kb/s during day and night. I think they should their DSL speeds (move 384kbps to 512kbps) at no extra cost. Otherwise, no other problems.

I have Telkom internet 20GB 4 Meg from Telkom. The international is fine, but when I get to local - it is really noticeable how much slower the internet gets. Especially sites like news24 etc.

Performance & Speed: it varies. It's actually been quite crap over the last few months, and I can only assume it was because of the free-loaders getting onto the internet with Telkom's promotion. Sucks that paying customers suffer every time a provider decides to promote something which gets the leeches out of the woodwork.

Latency: no real issues. I haven't really challenged the line in that way

Value for money: not bad, especially if you look at what is bundled with the DSL line

Performance - Good, actually surprised, considering a lot of people use Telkom.
Support: 2 - Phone support is not up to standard at times.
Latency: Personally I think it could be better, sometimes good, and others bad (Monday - Saturday: Good Sunday: :()
The package I have is great value for money, considering I suffer find it hard to get to my cap.
Overall satisfaction: Perfect for me, over priced though, but great start

Shouldn't mybb give an 3Month "ADSL" package to the winner if he/she has Telkom as an ISP?Who needs a Galaxy if you can get proper internet?

I switched over to 1 MB line from 386 and it is actually slower if not the same speed , speedtest says its 390 kbs
