Only had GREAT service from TelkomZA.

They even contacted me at my office to hear if my problem was sorted out. Only kudos from my end. I also know of a few people on My BB that he/they have helped sort out problems.

Vote he stays!!

In October when I wanted to get my line upgraded he phoned me, and we chatted while he did his stuff on his end (^Ch).

Well TelkomZA has replied to a PM I sent on the weekend. Guess the twitter message helped :)

Harsh? Perhaps a little, but I am aware that it is not any one person I am targeting but a group account.

Last time I had an issue (late last year), I contacted them via the TelkomZA account and received prompt and very helpful response/feedback and assistance.

However, now that the internet is completely broken for myself and many others, there is a radio silence that is absolutely infuriating.

Don't say stuff like this:

Hi
We would like to connect with you, our customer, and make it easier for you to communicate and do business with us on the platforms you are present on.
If you have any Telkom line related problems or Telkom account related queries, please feel free to post them here or PM us.
We will still keep an eye on other threads to see where we can assist.
We endeavour to make your customer experience a memorable one.
Queries will be attended to from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 17:00
Remember, you can also reach us on:
Twitter: @TelkomZA
Facebook: facebook.com/TelkomZA

And then expect us to hang tight for weeks and weeks, while our internet is virtually unusable, and the closest we can get to an answer is 'eish, let's reset your port'.

It's astonishing to me that there can be such a major problem, and after more than a week, absolutely no official clarity on what's going on.

All that said, to the people behind the TelkomZA account, you have my sympathy - I am sure you have a difficult task on your hands, and are hamstrung by situations out of your control.

Nevertheless, I do very much need my internet to work as advertised, and I and many others are simply at our wits end.

Hi All

Apologies that we made you wait so long for an official response, doing our best to work through all the PM`s and will be responding to all soonest.

“Telkom Internet is aware that some ADSL customers are experiencing slow speeds and high latency on some international internet traffic. Initial investigations by Telkom’s technical personnel have revealed that the fault condition is not on Telkom’s servers and that local ADSL traffic is running at normal speeds.

Further investigation, in collaboration with Telkom’s third party vendors, has isolated the fault to International network links. Telkom Internet’s technical team is currently working closely with its international vendors in order to resolve the fault as expeditiously as possible.

Telkom Internet apologises to affected customers and assures them that the matter is receiving priority attention. The ISP thanks its customers for their patience while it continues working with its vendors towards restoring services to normality in the shortest time possible.”

I have received extremely useful help from TelkomZA on more than one occasion. Two times for my own personal line at home, to do with exchange congestion which is now properly fixed. One time in November 2013 for a client, and again they have been very helpful.

Maybe they do ignore certain people. I for one are always nice and just too happy that someone at Telkom can sort out issues for me, vs others who may demand help and perhaps just aint very polite or have bad internet etiquette, who knows, but I personally rarely have problems once I get to someone who genuinely care to sort out issues.

100% TelkomZA has helped me, albeit a day or two after I sent the PM. I imagine their inbox is overflowing...

I'm satisfied. Glad that Telkom has someone on the site.

Come on at least give us am estimate of when it will be done? AND if it isn't Telkoms fault why are ISP's like Afrihost working just fine?

I'm still awaiting a reply to my PM to him from about 8 months ago...

@TelkomZA

Thanks for the reply, I have sent you a PM.

My local and international is affected, Speedtest to Telkom server have over 600ms latency and download speed is 0.12mbps. I logged a ticket on Saturday, it was escalated and agent promised someone would call and today I receive an SMS informing it was resolved and closed, no phone call and I am still having the same issue.

Please assist.

Apparently the Cape Party won, because according to Telkom, Cape Town is now an international destination.

I think it depends who you get responding, some are helpfull (Charl), Others will just tell you things but don't make an effort to resolve anything, probably the same call centre staff.

Charl is the best one you can hope to reach on the TelkomZA account, for sure.
