Please remove TelkomZA as a 'Telkom representative'.

Just to add that I've had great service from TelkomZA (on Twitter, but I assume its the same people on here).

They've been extremely helpful in finding out route causes for my lines' issues, and escalating to the respective departments to get action/feedback.

... if nothing else, they at least made me feel part of the loop and kept me informed - unline the old days where you log a fault and wait in the dark....

And they should be commended for all they've done, certainly.

This recent incident was probably just due to it being the tail end of the holidays, etc.

I am sure they are on it now, and again, I was just pissed off at the time and very frustrated - I didn't and don't really expect them to lose their rep account.

+1

Great service from TelkomZA on twitter always.

Morning

TI Official response update.

“Telkom Internet has identified the specific cause of slow speeds and high latency on some international internet traffic that some ADSL customers were experiencing.

Investigations conducted over the past few days, in collaboration with Telkom’s third party vendors, has pin-pointed and confirmed the exact location of the fault on the International network links. A temporary solution has been implemented in order to reduce the impact the fault has on our customers and our network while we continue working towards a permanent resolution. Telkom Internet’s technical team continues working closely with its international vendors to permanently resolve the fault as expeditiously as possible.

Telkom Internet apologises to affected customers and assures them that the matter continues to receive priority attention. The ISP thanks its customers for their patience while it continues working around the clock, with its vendors, in order to return services to normal.”

Regards^CO
Will post further updates as they become available.

What's annoying to me is when I report that my now 2mb line registers a 400kbps download speed yet am told it's synching at 2mb and looks stable

I am getting sick and tired of having my PM's ignored, and the feedback thread devoid of official responses for who knows how long now.

Being a customer representative doesn't mean a title and a border, you bunch of twits, it means keeping your customers' informed when there are problems, and for many of us, the internet experience we have been paying for is utterly and totally buggered (as per the feedback thread over the past week or two).

This would not be so bad if the call centre people were able to do anything more than A)claim there is no problem, or B)reset your port/lower your sync speed.

Pathetic and unacceptable.

Get your heads out of your arses please.

*edit*

There's been a response from TelkomZA in the thread, and while I stand by my annoyance, I want to apologize for my choice of words - It's nothing personal, and I appreciate the almost miraculous fact that Telkom are represented on the forum at all.

Let's be fair - We are just coming out of the big holiday break.

How do you feel now? :p

I'm guessing TelkomZA no longer exists, not here nor on Twitter......just like the call centre...non existant

copa I'm not following you here. Yes it has its flaws but its 100% better than it was when we did not have a TLK rep at all. Removing him is not a solution here imo...quite the opposite.

A better solution in my eyes is getting rpm to follow up on it...how did this go from Telkom rep/twitter having a reputation for responding instantly to the last response right now (per twitter) being 6 days old and everything subsequently being ads.

My one & only interaction with TelkomZA(Charl) was Grade A+ so I'm somewhat suspicious of calls to scrap it outright...

I hope he's not on the retrenchment list.
Not yet as only management and high level specialists are on the current list; he is an operations specialist.

But that could change in a few months' time.
