Sorry to put a damper on things but a DRE (digital rectal examination) will never be replaced by the PSA blood test to screen for prostate cancer. The PSA is a normal hormone which if elevated may be prostate cancer, but you can have prostate cancer with a normal PSA.
By the way - I would have thought a pap smear far worse than a mammogram . Jane goody would be alive today if she had had a pap smear?
