If you have questions for Shaun, please post them here.

Lets keep this thread neat.

I'll go first.

1. Is the bolt-on Value Added Services of 64 Kbps All-day Uncapped service at R199 per month and a 128 Kbps All-day Uncapped service at R249 per month,
available only to customers with the new 5GB and up packages?

Shaun, thanks for inviting this.

1. I second the first question posted by Madhawk.
2. When will the other options be anounced?
3. How soon can we migrate to the new packages and what would the cost be?
4. Can we migrate in say 3 months from now?
5. How accurate are the bandwidth reports?

Edit: @ Madhawk: neat enough?

64kbps will be for the 5 gig package and up.

128kbps will be for the 8 gig package and up.

1. See above
2. Lets get the current offering onto the table first. I would say the 1st quarter 2010.
3. Migrations will be allowed in the new month. there should be no charge as long as your migration is up.
4. I do not see why not.
5. They have their days. You can contact the centre should you wish to confirm the amounts.

Will month to month customers be allowed to stay on their current packages?

Thanks Shaun, those are nice concise answers. Not all with nice news, but now at least we know exactly where we stand.

Regarding the bandwidth reports: My usage seems to have dropped over the last month or so, while my real usage pattern hasn't changed. If the bandwidth report has in the past been unreliable then sure I'll switch to the new package without screaming for the missing bandwidth from the past. If on the other hand it is now inaccurate, I'll stay right where I am.

this is still under consideration.

Last time we left month to month clients on the old packages we were slapped around.

Product will be letting us know soon.

Well your product offering has changed substantially in the lower end, so I dont think it would be ethical not to allow a choice on whether to change or not.

The previous change was not that substantial, so I dont think you can draw comparisons

More than substantially. I would be more than a little upset if they take away my current package.

The reason people were upset with a lack of auto-migration last time was that the packages were simply cheaper versions of what already existed. Auto-migration makes 100% sense in that scenario.

The NEW packages actually TAKE AWAY features that users are accustomed to so comparing the situations is not really fair in the slightest.

Can the current GIGA users stay on their packages. Meaning 1gig cap with the 64K throttled speeds. (Contract/Package stays as it is. No Migration)

(I'm not planning to upgrade to the 5gig plan to get 64K after my cap)

+ Napalm. I also want to stay on my 3GB package plus free 64K soft cap. No way am I paying extra to get this soft cap.... I-Burst must be a little bit arrogant and counting on the ignorance of the public to introduce rates such as they did.... FAIL!

Hi Shaun,

I want to move from the old Giga (R199pm) to the new 2Giga. (R198)

1) I'll be paying R1 less per month. Is that considered a downward migration, and will I be charged?
2) What do I have to do to ensure my package is migrated for next month?
3) Does carry over of allotted bandwidth and top-up bandwidth work exactly as it did on the old package? ie If I don't use my iBurst connection for a month, I will have up to 4gig to use the following month before requiring a top up?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hear, hear. I'll add my vote on the new packages to the underwhelmed category.

On this I cannot now answer. I am awaiting the rules for the GIGA users.

Apologies.

1. There will be no charge for this.
2. I am awaiting clear rules on this.
3. I have not been made aware of a change in this. Please let me check.

Resellers? How will this work if you're with iBurst through a reseller?

Keep in mind, there is no way in heck I will give my banking details to iBurst. I will rather quit and order an DSL line.
