*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

Is there something wrong with iBurst at the moment? I can access a few international sites but most pages just don't even load?

I'm giving up on this. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1704752804.png
So far all the work done to the Pretoria / Centurion area did nothing to explain the crap daytime speeds, and the fact that we have full-speed after hours. I've supplied my UTID, I've supplied my Coords, I've been in contact with Melanie and the tech support. If the issue was with my setup, I wouldn't have full-speed after hours.

So what have you guys experience been with MTN / Cell-C / 8ta ?? ADSL is not an option for my (the exchange is full)

I dont even full speed anymore these last 2 or 3 weeks in the evening the fastest i have seen is 0.6 before that in the evenings i was gettting close to 1meg and in the day 0.6

Did a test earlier with a buddy's external antenna hooked up to our 2Mb modem and with the antenna on a 4m long pole.
He stood on our house roof (roof height is 11 metres from the ground, so antenna was 15 metres above ground level) with pole + antenna slowly turning the antenna a full 360 degrees while I watched the signal strength and tower BTCC.

Even tilting the pole slightly in all directions made no difference at all and signal strength varied from zero to 100%.

BTCC did not change at all from 19. Ronald says there is 1 tower within 2.5 km from us but still only connects to the tower that is 4th closest to us (BSCC 19).

What I cannot understand at all is that previously I would regularly see 2+Mbps during the day and even during heavy storms here the speeds would be way over 1Mbps. Now the speed simply sucks whatever the time or weather condition.

There was a very brief period where I would see over 1.5Mbps, but lately (again!) this is the norm:

I will make a decision after we get back from holiday on the 2nd Feb if we are going to keep iBurst or not.......

took me 3 and a houlf hours just to download 200mb

On another related note, my buddy has had exactly the same problems as me.
Speed 2+Mbps during the day and +-2.5 months ago, everything went for a ball of crap.

And he stays in Garsfontein, about 15km from me.

Still does not explain why speeds went from 2+Mbps regularly during the day to less than dialup speed when nothing has changed on my PC, modem in the same place etc........

And all of this BS started just after the new packages were released and that tells me is an iBurst problem and not any hardware or software on our sides.

And why would the 2Mb modems suddenly wneed firmware updates when they were working perfectly fine before?

I await an answer in plain language, not in some technical jargon, thanks.

Kyocera wouldn't bother with a firmware update if none was required. However, your reasoning makes no sense? As an example hundreds of thousands of Toyota owners had no problems with their accelerators. When the accelerator problem developed, it was an accelerator problem. You cannot reason there is no accelerator problem because previously it was undetected and no-one's accelerator was perceived to be faulty.

This is kinda the point ... Do the same tests at 9am 1pm 5pm. More than likely they will look significantly different from tests conducted at midnight.

See current speedtest on 1mb modem. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1706090108.png

So this rules out possibility of problems on my side. Still during weekdays my speed is max 0.25 mbps.

And 2 hours later again. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1706182171.png
