So I ordered some stuff last Sunday, get the confirmation e-mail saying I shouldn't pay yet. I figure it's because they want to check if they can get stock, which is fair enough. On Monday they let me know they can get stock, so I pay that evening. It's Absa to Standard Bank, so it takes some time, only goes through Wednesday morning apparently.

Now I still haven't received my goods, after having called them yesterday asking for an update (not even gonna try e-mail as it's pointless). They said it will be delivered this morning. When this doesn't happen, I phone again, they say the courier has gone out, so I should get it this afternoon. Nope, still nothing. Now it's long weekend, so I'll only get my stuff on Tuesday morning.

Their website still says my order is "processing". I get no feedback whatsoever, and there's no way to track the courier to find out wtf is going on. Am I being unreasonable in thinking this is a bit ridiculous? My friend saw a car on Saturday, started the process of purchasing it and received it yesterday morning. Now if it takes longer to buy and receive 4 PC parts (that are in stock, so doesn't need to be specially ordered) than a car, something's not right.

The problem is entirely with you. You have decided to go ahead and pay BEFORE they said you can do so! They have confirmed there is no stock but they can get whatever you ordered. I have ordered stuff numerous times from them but never did pay BEFORE they toled me to. Lesson learned.

Seems the problem lies here, as they might have meant they can get stock in x days, not that the item(s) is necessarily in stock as in they can get it now.

If communication was good I'd imagine they would have sent a more precise prior email, which it seems they did not.

Don't know why they would fib about the courier.

That is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard regarding payment. If the OP didnt pay in due time, fair enough, however in this case OP has credit on his account with RebelTech. Furthermore OP telephonically confirmed with a human being that the delivery will be effected today after OP called them on Thursday. If RebelTech said on Thursday they couldn't deliver for today (Friday), then OP is being an unreasonable F-tard, but according to the OP, RebelTech confirmed delivery a second time and that being a same day delivery. There is no lesson learnt here for the OP, the staff member for RebelTech did a FUBAR on either the actual delivery or mislead the OP or both.

@OP: I dont think the car comparison is really equivalent, but anyway.

@Postman: I assume that if they could dispatch it via courier in accordance to the first call, then the "potentially have stock" on Monday became a "officially have stock now" on the Wednesday/Thursday. Can't exactly deliver something you don't have.

They said they were out to deliver - what does this have to do with stock?

And the car was prestocked. Big difference. RT doesn't keep stock and most if not all online IT hardware shops do the same...

In stock with supplier & in stock with RT isn't the same thing.

Its a small outfit, so yeah it can take a day or 3. I'd rather use their support forums than phone calls though...that way everyone is on the same page.

Rebeltech send a mail when a customer should pay. I only pay when they said I should and never had a issue with them so far. The op paid when he thought he should pay and guess what . . . I stand by my first reply. Sorry about the disappointment. Lesson learned x 2.

So if you pay early, they penalise you by delivering late. Now I know too. I will not make this mistake.

Every thing seems fine until they said they would deliver today. Where do you stay and what courier service do they use. Last time I bought from them a rebeltech person brought my stuff to me.

Doesn't a courier still deliver same day?

No, I paid only after receiving confirmation from them that they can get stock, which was Monday. The e-mail specifically said I should proceed with EFT, so I did. They don't proceed with the order until payment is received.

Yeah, and I understood that. They said they could get stock from the supplier on Monday, so it was obvious to me that I wouldn't have the stuff by Tuesday. The problem I have is them telling me on Thursday that they have stock in the afternoon and that it will be delivered on Friday morning. It doesn't happen, and I have to phone again to ask what's going on, only to be told it will be delivered in the afternoon, as the courier has the stuff and is busy with deliveries. All through this there was no communication from them, I had to initiate everything. Another problem for me is that there's no way to track the progress of the delivery. You don't know which courier service they use, or if you could contact them to ask what's going on. And as I said, my order on the website is still "processing", which means something other than what the guy on the phone is telling me.

Yes, I know. I wasn't trying to do a direct comparison. It just seemed odd to me that you can buy (and get) a car quicker than you can get 4 PC parts.

I stay in Pretoria East. Not exactly Pofadder. As I mentioned earlier, that's one of the problems I have, that you don't know which courier service they use, so you can't trace it in any way.

Noted, but... in my case it was quicker to get my pc parts than my car since bank kept on ****ing it up :(

And confirmed it twice, and never initiated communication from their side as to what the status is.

Man, that sucks. Incidentally, in the case I mentioned, the bank also made a mistake, but they rectified it same day and the car was still delivered on time.

I have used RT for a while now. Their service and prices have always been great. But the last 2 times I bought from them, I had a similar problem. Made a stock confirmation query on the Monday, got the 'items are in stock with our suppliers - proceed with payment' mail on the Tuesday - made payment the same day. Thursday, the status was still sitting on payment required. Friday it was processing. Mailed them on the Monday and got a reply saying that all items would be shipped that afternoon. Queried again on the Wednesday since the status on their web site still said 'processing' and was told the same thing - that it would be sent off that afternoon. Got the tracking numbers on the Friday, but only received the components on the Monday as they had decided, out of their own accord to use SA Post Office. In all, that is 2 weeks from making the initial query to receipt of said items.

This was similar in both the last 2 purchases I made, which is not consistent with the all the prior purchases which have always taken 4-5 working days. So something or someone is not quite working out for them. I like Rune as she has always been really helpful. But in the last case, she tried to explain how she felt the time frame was acceptable, but got very muddled with time-frame dates she was quoting. I did not bother correcting her... we tend to move on to trying other suppliers when the ones we are used to start to slide a bit. But I may still use them again. Their prices are quite good. I hope they find the root cause of the problem (if they are unaware of it) and get back to the service level they used to be at.

Yikes, subxero. I really hope I'm not in for a similar experience. This was my first purchase with them, but it hasn't left a good impression, to be honest. Seeing now that the prices of the components on Prophecy isn't that much more, so I'd probably just go with them next time.

Retarded much? Or did you just forget how to read? OP said that he got confirmation email on the stock which is an email confirming for you to proceed with payment dumbass... Now I don't know about you, but last time I checked with all online stores (except some which offer cash on delivery) you generally have to pay for the things you order before they bother to source them.

So my lesson for today? Never listen to intel8080 on the grounds of "He is an idiot."

Hahahahahaha, this made my day :D

Guys I had a similar problem to the OP, but in my case it was them waiting for my Cursor Ram from the supplyer, I allso bought a motherboard that I needed urgently and phoned them up to ask if I could drive trough and collect the motherboard later that day as I urgently needed it, and wait for the ram to ship, they said no problem, and later that they I went to go get the motherboard.

They have a small loft space in a business complex, and I have to admit, when I got there it was PACKED with PC components, they even apologized to me that the place was so full, and thanked me for collecting the motherboard.

Got the ram the following day anyway from there courier.

Its December and judging from what I saw, they are swamped and flooded with orders, hence the wait.

So I have no grudge against them for being late, instead have some admiration that they allowed me to collect a part of the order and was so friendly about it.

PS Ordered a Asrock Z77 Pro3 and Cursor 2x8gb 1600mhz LP set from them.
