DStv Now is the online version of DStv and it’s free to DStv subscribers. Watch on a smartphone, tablet, laptop, computer, smart TV or Xbox.

The TV channels and Catch Up content on DStv Now mirror the content available on the underlying DStv subscription. In other words, Compact subscribers see Compact channels on DStv Now, Premium subscribers get all channels, etc...

But what many people don’t know is there’s a totally free section to DStv Now available to people who don’t have a DStv subscription at all. This free service has the following channels on top of the news channels mentioned above:

In addition, episodes of some of South Africa’s best-loved soapies are available free, including Igazi, The River, Isibaya, Binnelanders, Suidooster and Die Ware Naarheid.

How to sign up for DStv Now’s free service
  1. Go to now.dstv.com and click on Sign Up.
  2. Fill in your details and click Create An Account.
  3. In the next step, you’ll be prompted to provide your ID, smartcard or customer number. If you’re not subscribed to DStv, scroll to the bottom and choose Skip.
  4. Name your profile and set your profile pic, and start watching.
  5. If you’re planning on watching DStv on your phone or tablet, download the DStv Now app for Android or iOS.

NO I don’t have DsTV at all . I signed up for DsTV now . I’ve been asking that question bro .
just say I have DsTV compact can I watch DsTV premium on the add on ?

also what happens if I stop paying for my DsTV . Will the add on stop working?

You typed inside the quote - check your reply.

If you have compact you cannot watch premium. It is linked to your smart card.
One has to go to https://connect.dstv.com and link your smart card - if you have the compact bouquet on your dish you will only have access to the same channels on the add-on, nothing more and nothing less.

Do you have a free account too like @Spongy10? It is possible the problem is on dstv's side. Usually that token error points to a problem on dstv's side and resolves itself after a while.

I have a proper subscription (i.e. smart card linked on connect.dstv.com) and mine is working fine, so could be issue with free accounts only
 
@enerdude . I don’t have a free account. If you do can you provide one ? People in my country are putting kodi with DsTV now on Android boxes and selling is there a free accounts?

If you don't have a free account then check if your smart card is linked on connect.dstv.com. People selling android boxes with kodi and this addon is doing it illegally - mostly using somebody else's login details.
 
i know Kodi has a bit of a name for providing content for "free" due to rubbish piracy addons that constantly break.
that is starting to go away luckily.

Those kodi boxes are probably just using 1 guys subscription and sharing it around, or pre-install the add-on with it's settings. dstv could easily look for logins used by many different IP addresses, then block that login - then those boxes break.

Any add-ons made by me or Matt always need proper subscriptions.

Hi guys...I loaded dstv now in Kodi but when I select a channel it's giving a error message saying "can't find this stream" any idea what can that be?
 
Just a thought and it may be completely unrelated but as an owner of a SwitchX'(Android Device), we have recently had an issue that the DSTV now APP requires a "Google Certified"device. We cannot access "Live Tv"the conventional way and have had to resort to accessing the channels via the TV GUIDE as a work around. I'm not sure if this has some bearing on your Kodi issues
 
I had to re-install yesterday. Everything worked last night. Now I get a "could not find channel" and string of numbers. I am running 0.13.2
