Rocketnet - feedback?

Anyone move their fibre line with RocketNet? Can you detail the process?

Moving from Vumatel to Vumatel, trying to figure out what the costs are. I know activation fee will be one of them (at the new place), but hopefully not installation since fibre is already installed.

Also trying to go for a line upgrade, but not sure if they will pro-rate the billing?

RocketNet actually forfeited our activation fee when we moved out to renovate for about 3 months with the move back in again at our residence after our cancellation for said period. Big up to them for that.

Installation fee for a line is obviously a one-off, each premises has its own object number.

RocketNet has received the notice of the realignment of fibre packages from Metrofibre and will be reviewing all our options and where possible make the best decision for our RocketNet customers and prospective customers.

Hi Rocketnet

Do you have any feedback or an ETA yet

Hi Rocketnet

If you visit their website, under MFN it says speed double up from the 1st of June. So I’m assuming that means upgrades for us :)

bad internet experience tonight on the rocketnet/vume fiber network with bad pings and this has been going on for some weeks now

Looking to cut costs a bit this year. Currently have 100/100 Octotel through Rocketnet for R1195pm.
I'm looking at Openserve 50/25 for R895.

Has anyone switched from Octotel to Openserve through Rocketnet? How do they compare?
What costs were involved with switching? I see free activation, but does that cover Openserve installation?

Kinda sad that CoolIdeas is R200 cheaper than Rocketnet for the 100/100 Octotel in the same area.

Hi @RocketNet-Rep,

Please can you urgently look at ticket #on your systems.

Edit: This has been sorted, thank you.

Long story short:
  • Moved to a new place with existing Vumatel fibre line
  • Service was supposed to be activated on 15th May
  • Line was apparently locked to previous user. Could PPPoE, but always redirected to mweb.
  • Line unlocked around Wednesday/Thursday last week, but still no activation on my side
  • Getting tired of waiting and querying support. I am not sure where the bottleneck is. I assume Vumatel since your support guys have been lodging ticket on ticket with them (so they tell me).
Please help me get resolution on this? *sigh*

Hi everyone. How’s the experience with Rocketnet? Considering moving to them.

I find that most of the issues I face with RocketNet is through them. That is, Vumatel.

RocketNet is quick to open tickets to get stuff actioned on their side, but Vumatel drags their feet. "Premium fibre" my behind.

RocketNet overall is great.

Never had downtime with them that I can remember, only FNO issues with Frogfoot
When they had to deal with Frogfoot issues on my behalf they were quite good with phoning me back with updates often.
