Router Battery Backup

Yes, throwing good money after bad. That UPS has standard lead acid batteries that don't like cycles and is also inverting DC to AC which has a loss factor. Gizzu and co is lithium, and is straight DC so no losses.
Many thanks to all who have jumped in to help me. So if I get the Gizzu 8800mah ups do I just switch it out for the ubiquiti poe I am currently using?

First sentance

Ah ok. You want to play.

Anyway, if you want to only play a bit, get yourself an UltraLan, add some more battery and then hook one of these up and you should be good to go.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with that. Maybe others can comment.

I might just do that, double the batteries, the problem is I don't think they use an off the shelf BMS so if they don't and I don't understand it, then I can blow the house up since this is lithium we are talking about.

Isn't that part of the fun?
lol.

In another world, what I would actually like is a normal UPS, but instead of using a lead acid battery it uses a lithium ion one.

Then I don't have to mess with wires I can just set one up for the TV & set one up for the network rack

I have a synology too and that will be a bitch using the ratel / gizzu / ultrlan

Stick a BlueNova in a standard ups or inverter?

Why is the Synology a challenge? What power does it need?

Apparently "drop-in replacement" doesn't really mean drop-in replacement, see:

Anyone have any opinions on the below setup from Sinetech?

Decent. I guess it depends on what you want to use it for?

Would welcome reviews once someone has one. Really thinking of recommending this to the grand parents! Lithium so no big cycling issue... And 220v so can power their tv and stuff...

Tv + dstv + light would be them sorted!

Yeah, I guess it could serve as an alternative to the Ellies / Mecer trollies. Note that it has a pretty limited battery capacity though. Not sure it'll power a TV & decoder for a full LS shift

2 hour shift...this is CT not the wild east ;)

probably loose 20% through inverter ac/dc losses.

Came across this for R599:

Decent price if you don't need POA. Seems to be 8800mAh too.
The link that you have provided no longer works.

I've noticed with some sellers, they remove their items after a week and then put them back 2 or 3 weeks later.

I bought this mini ups from Takealot but the link no longer works today: UltraLAN Micro UPS (DC & PoE) - 45W 8.8AH. It is the same as the Geewiz but for R699. I guess that the link will work again in 2 weeks time.

You can't charge a lithium battery using a lead-acid charger also you need a BMS.

The Synology is a problem because it has a 220v AC input only.

The BlueNova's have built-in BMS.

220V is indeed a problem.

Very good unit, same guys who built the Ratel.

Friends of mine have this, they use a 50watt panel to charge, but I think 100watt would be better.

They camp a lot.

But thinking about it, I forgot about this unit, now this might be perfect for my requirements to power the routers and synology
