Router Battery Backup

You can't charge a lithium battery using a lead-acid charger also you need a BMS.
The BlueNova have a built-in BMS, but if you read in the other thread I linked, it seems they need to be disconnected and reconnected after load shedding to get them to start charging again.
The Synology is a problem because it has a 220v AC input only.
Open it up, you might be able to bypass the PSU and run it on 12V and 5V, or maybe even 12V only.

You can, you just don't get full voltage so less capacity.

The link that you have provided no longer works.

I've noticed with some sellers, they remove their items after a week and then put them back 2 or 3 weeks later.

I bought this mini ups from Takealot but the link no longer works today: UltraLAN Micro UPS (DC & PoE) - 45W 8.8AH. It is the same as the Geewiz but for R699. I guess that the link will work again in 2 weeks time.
It was this but sold by a 3rd party seller.

NO!

The 8100 has a maximum output of 100W, but it has 8x 1800mAh batteries.
Where as the 860P has a maximum output of 60W, but has 8x 2200mAh batteries. So if you are just powering your routers it will keep them powered for longer.
Furthermore the 860P does has POE.

Dear @killerbyte :) yet another question for you -

All this electronics talk is very confusing. That Ratel 860P seems to be sold out everywhere.

Is there another plug and play solution JUST for a router - don't care about the price but must be easy to use, look decent and last a minimum of 4/5 hours.

Look at dbg for their ultralan micro ups range or search for a gizzu

Will that be able to power the Unifi AC AP Lite even though it requires 24v (and the router can only output 12v)?

Just an update on my testing:

So I have a Ratel 8100. I've ordered the following PoE injectors from Geewiz:

A: https://www.geewiz.co.za/power-over-ethernet/4408-single-port-gigabit-poe-injector.html
B: https://www.geewiz.co.za/power-over-ethernet/126054-mikrotik-rbgpoe-gigabit-poe-injector.html

So with the 12v5A port, both of these don't power the Unifi AP AC Lite at all (Not even a light).
With the 19v5A port, A powers the AP, but it keeps on rebooting. B everything seems to working 100%. Will still be testing with B.

I spoke to GeeWiz and they don't have the cable I need, what is it exactly? DC male to female?

They are speaking about importing it maybe, but that seems pricy. I can get the parts but I can't put it together.

Any other ideas where I can find one?

you need the DC male to male 2.1mm

....Or just get a male to female, and then get a DC splitter I linked to earlier, as the males are all common-ed(?), so will work as a sex change for a DC cable.

[Male]-cable-[Female][Male]-splitter-[Male]

The Unifi needs 802.3af/A PoE or 24V PoE. Both products you linked are passive POE so they need to be 24V which is probably why the first one didn't work. Both of those injectors look like the input and output voltage is the same, so you should be giving it 24V input.

Communica has stock

I ordered and paid for the Ratel 860P from sinetechstore last year, site showed 100s in stock, a day later got an email - no stock. Got the refund a couple of days later + they asked R250 extra for shipping.

Ordered from Communica after I saw your post at 11:55 - got the tracking number at 4pm from Dawn Wing + shipping is only R80.

Sinetech now says the 860p is discontinued and replaced by the 8100 - luckily Communica still stocks them.

You'll be happy with the Ratel. I have the 860P and have the ont and modem connected to it and I get just over 6 hrs on it.

Thanks for this, looking forward to having fibre during LS and power cuts. We had an unexpected cut that lasted 5 and a half hours yesterday

Young guy who lives in the house had an online entrance exam to do his honours at university. He had to drive from Fairland to Pretoria to stay with a friend so he could do the test because we didn't know how long it would take for them to fix the cables.

Thanks all for your recommendations.

I ordered 2x Ratel 860P's from Communica yesterday morning around 10am. Considering there was no delivery charge I was pleasantly surprised to have it delivered to my door at 3pm today.

It was my first time using Communica and after this kind of service I'll definitely be back.
